You know the ones..."I have no friends" - "I am afraid nobody is going to come" "what if they all say no?"

My first host like that was the world's biggest headache - but well worth it. I spent HOURS on the phone with her stroking her ego, reminding her to think of everyone she could - her clients, her kids' teachers, neighbors, etc...since she was SO sure none of her friends really liked her and so sure they wouldn't come...she REALLY stretched to invte more people...long story short, I left her house with $2100 in orders!!

Today's host was all "Nobody is going to come, I just know it." Earlier this week she called and said "I a mnot sure what to do - maybe we should cancel because I think only like 5 people are interested in coming." I coched her to make reminder calls...this morning she calls "I have 16 yesses...and several are bringing friends" -- Turned out there were 21 people there - $900 in sales and 3 bookings!!

I just love the pessimistic ones...they are SO sure that nobody will come --- so they WAY overinvite!! LOVE THEM!!!

WOW! That is just AWESOME!!!!!

That is awesome. I know you are very happy with the turnout. Time spent on the phone was well worth it.

Me too!The same thing happened to me today with my host. I left with $700 in sales and 1 booking! :)

I'm hoping this happens to me tomorrow......God Willing!!I've got a hostess, I'm ONLY doing this to help Darcy (orig. hostess) out. I don't really like to do shows.

I'm not expecting allot of people and I don't expect to have high sales.

Well I'm hoping for HUGE sales and lots of bookings!!

God Willing I'll get both!!

Lisa

Awesome results! Well worth that phone time!
I also love excited hosts....my host from Friday...I left with 600 in sales. And she WANTS to have a 1000 show! I'm saying you go girl; she's really working on those outside orders. (yes, I asked about signing too--not right now though)

Really - the great show wasn't so much about the hostess - it was about your awesome host coaching!:D Great Job!

Aw, thanks Becky! What a nice thing to say :)

That's FAB-U-LOUS!!! I find when I have a host who tells me "I have great shows" they aren't so great, and the ones who are nervous have great shows. Maybe because they are more receptive to the coaching? I dunno.

My best show was a lady who had never hosted an in-home show before. She came to a show that I did during the month that half my commission was being donated to a family who lost their home in a fire. She booked from that show, and had 15 guests at her show! And she's placing an order on a catalog show I've got open and has an almost $100 order! She will be one of my best hosts and customers for life, I know!!!!!

Carolyn: I think Lisa meant that the host said she didn't like to do shows. I too find that hosts who say they don't need coaching, they always have big shows, etc., turns into a small show...and sometimes a no show.

I'm doing a "Cold Stone Creamery" show for a friend tomorrow. I just talked to her and she really doesn't think she'll have more than 2 or 3 guests. She sent out 40 invites... she is making calls in the morning! I think she may have several that just didn't RSVP... but either way, I'm looking forward to it. This is a friend who wanted nothing to do with a show until she heard me mention "Kids Cooking" and "Ice Cream Social" shows!!!! lol

Hopefully she'll be one of those "pessimistic hosts that we love" ;)

Cold Stone Creamery show?Been to CSC before (YUMMY), but what's a CSC show? :D

You freeze one of your stones and use it to mix up the ice cream creations!!!! This is my first one, but I'm sure it will be fun :)

You can do a search on Cold Stone Show and you should find some threads about it...

My pessimistic cancelled her show and I cannot get her on the phone to reschedule  May I borrow some of yours! HA!

I was like that! I had 20-something show up!

My host just gave me her count: 23 and a few maybes. :D :D Cross your fingers for me! I want bookings and recruits!!

I AM a pessimistic host, but I still have a consistent 0-3 people show at every thing I host!!!

We'll have to do something about that!!! Get you some free stuff, girl!

I did that too! I invited 70 people to my open house and only 4 showed up, 3 were related to me! Pathetic! I think consultants make the worst hosts!

I, too, agree with that theory. LOL

Maybe another reason my Open house's have been successful is that I only do this one time a year. I don't host any other shows (cooking or catalog) through out the year. I do take individual orders and turn them into catalog shows quite often - but I don't invite people to order or come to shows at any other time - this is my ONE BIG event of the year!

I've been thinking about doing a Past Host Appreciation event.

Incentive to Invite...I haven't officially done a Kitchen Show yet but my aunt was one of the first people to agree to doing a show. When I explained to her that she should invite 40 people her jaw dropped and said "I don't even know 40 people!!" Well I insisted that she did and told her I'd give her a gift if she invited at least 40! Well I figured she'd be like "yeah...whatever!" but she has surprised me and is really going to town and even getting lots of outside orders!!
I might start offering this incentive to everyone!!
Another idea I got from someone is to purchase the ingredients and bring the host the slip but for every outside order she has before the show she knocks of a dollar from the groceries! I thought that was a great idea! So I told my aunt that one too so she's excited about that too! I think it's actually going to be a really good show!

Frequently Asked Questions

Are pessimistic hosts more likely to generate higher sales?

However, a positive and enthusiastic host usually creates a more engaging atmosphere that can drive sales more effectively.

How can a pessimistic host still contribute to successful sales?

This can lead to a more tailored approach in marketing the products, addressing potential customer objections, and ultimately enhancing the sales experience.

What strategies can be used with pessimistic hosts to boost sales?

To boost sales with pessimistic hosts, it’s important to provide them with clear, actionable strategies and support. This can include offering them detailed product information, hosting training sessions, and encouraging them to share personal stories or testimonials about the products to build confidence and enthusiasm.

Do pessimistic hosts affect the overall party atmosphere?
