Okay, I just received a 'friend request' from a half-sister that I haven't spoken to in over 7 years (long story).

I'm hesitate, but willing to add her as a friend but if it gets out of hand I want to be able to UNfriend her. Is that possible? I don't care if she knows I do it or not but I just want to know I'll be able to do so if necessary.

Does anyone know FOR SURE?

Yes. If you click on the tab at the top of the page that says friends you'll get a list of your friends. If you click on the X to the far right of the friend you want to delete you will get this message: Remove friend?
Are you sure you want to remove XXXXXXXXX as a friend? This cannot be undone. XXXXX will not be notified. It says it can't be undone but I think that means you can't reverse it... if down the road you wanted to add them again I'm pretty sure you could send them another request and as long as they approved you'd be "friends" again.

Actually it is really easy to remove a friend. In your friends list on the right side there is a little x in a box, that does it.

Thanks Jolene and Holly! Much appreciated. I guess I'll give it a try and see what happens.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How should I respond to a friend request from my half-sister?

When receiving a friend request from your half-sister, consider your comfort level and relationship with her. If you feel open to connecting, accept the request and start a conversation. If you're unsure, you can send her a message first to gauge her intentions before deciding.

2. What should I do if I don't want to connect with my half-sister on Facebook?

If you prefer not to connect, you can simply ignore the friend request. Facebook allows you to decline requests without notifying the sender. Alternatively, you can choose to block her if you want to prevent any further attempts to connect.

3. How can I set boundaries with my half-sister on social media?

To set boundaries, you can adjust your privacy settings to control what she can see on your profile. You can also communicate directly with her about what topics or types of posts you are comfortable sharing or discussing.

4. What topics should I avoid discussing with my half-sister on Facebook?

It's best to avoid sensitive topics such as family history, personal issues, or anything that could lead to conflict. Focus on neutral subjects like hobbies, interests, or general life updates until you establish a more comfortable relationship.

5. How can I foster a positive relationship with my half-sister online?

To foster a positive relationship, engage with her posts by liking or commenting, and share your own updates to encourage interaction. Consider initiating private conversations to get to know her better, and be open to building a friendship over time.
