Absolutely, keep your receipts and keep them organized! My husband has his own business and tax time is a bear every year sorting his box of receipts.

Your membership here is deductible as a professional membership.

So are cooking magazine subscriptions as an educational expense.

Groceries used at your shows, and groceries used at home to try recipes, both are deductible. I'll probably bring groceries for my hosts just because I can write it off, but they can't.

What do you write off?

mileage - anytime I'm doing something PC related
half my phone, cell, internet services
postage
host gifts
product incentives that I earn (get the $$ amt from your 1099)
groceries/supplies that I buy for host appreciation parties at my home
supplies
laptop
checks

logo clothing (even when I've bought them from ebay)
anything I buy from Merrill
conferecne registration
conference travel
conference hotel
airport parking fees for conference travel
mileage to/from airport for conf travel
taxi fare

Printer ink
Printer
computer
Clothing (logo wear only)
Any expenses related to conference
Consultant gifts

When I meet hosts or potential recruits at like a coffee shop or if i take them to lunch to discuss PC then I write that off a a businesss expense

I heard that you can only write off half of a meal. Is that true, or maybe it's different everywhere?

I write a check to my DH every year for services rendered (not what you think ladies!!!!). He helps with stamping, folding, washing my dishes, etc.

That is true since the gov't believes since you needed to eat (say lunch for example) that you can't write your meal off. No biggie- since receipts do not have names of what you ate then just write off the most expensive thing! HA HA HA :p

Make sure that you have receipts for everything. I had a very good friend get into a LOT of trouble because of sloppy receipts/bookkeeping. I make copies of my receipts because sometimes they fade and are not readable.

Absolutely, keep your receipts and keep them organized! My husband has his own business and tax time is a bear every year sorting his box of receipts. "What did you by at _____ on June 17? It says XBes22 and cost $79.99 and I don't know what that is." PAINful.
