So I was at the fair the other day and the consultant that was my "booth buddy" was a total lead hog!!!! As long as I have done fairs and booths I have never had this problem before. She tried to take every lead that walked up to the booth. Plus I'm pretty sure she stole my PC pen when I went to the biffy!!!!!!

Maybe I'm over reacting, (my luck she reading this post too)

It just boggles my mind that someone would treat a fellow consultant that way. The fact that we are in different clusters shouldn't matter in my opinion.

On the plus side day 1 down with 3 bookings and a recruit lead!!!! Dispite the lead hog!

Did you have an agreement to share leads equally? Like taking turns talking to people and splitting up the drawing slips?

Yes. It is supposed to be every other lead. The funny thing is I would have let her if she had just asked and been okay with it. since I'm there most of this week.

I have had people tell me to "soak it up" , and have repayed the favor also.

As I said maybe I'm over reacting. I tend to do that at times. My goal isn't to bad mouth her either. I just don't understand why someone would do that to a fellow consultant.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do some consultants hog leads at fairs?

Some consultants may hog leads at fairs due to a competitive mindset. They might believe that securing as many leads as possible will increase their chances of sales and success within the Pampered Chef business. This behavior can stem from a desire to outperform others or fear of losing potential customers to fellow consultants.

Is it common for consultants to compete for leads at events?

Yes, competition for leads is quite common at fairs and events. Many consultants view these opportunities as crucial for building their customer base, which can lead to aggressive tactics. However, it's important to foster a collaborative environment where all consultants can benefit from shared leads and networking.

How can consultants share leads effectively at fairs?

Consultants can share leads effectively by establishing a system of communication and collaboration before the event. They can agree on dividing responsibilities, such as taking turns at the booth or sharing contact information of leads. This approach not only helps in building relationships but also enhances the overall experience for potential customers.

What impact does hogging leads have on team dynamics?

Hogging leads can create tension and resentment among team members. It can lead to a lack of trust and cooperation, which are essential for a successful direct sales team. When consultants focus solely on individual gain, it undermines the team spirit and can negatively affect morale and performance.

What should a consultant do if they feel leads are being hogged?

If a consultant feels that leads are being hogged, they should address the issue directly and professionally. Open communication is key; they can discuss their concerns with the individual or team leader. It may also be helpful to suggest strategies for better lead sharing and collaboration to ensure everyone has a fair chance at success.
