Why Can't I Upload a Word File as .doc Instead of .docx?

I was trying to upload some flyers here, and it says invalid file.:cry:

the document is word, but the abbreviation is .docx

How do i get it to just be .doc?

If it has a .docx extension, it was created with Word 2007. You can download and install a free file convertor from Microsoft.com that allows older versions of Word to open Word 2007 docs.

If you go to Microsoft.com, it is listed under Popular Downloads. It is called: Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack

(I would imagine this will stay a Popular download for some time)

If you don't want to go through all that right now...what file is it...I can convert it for you.

Thank you!! Yes it is word 07, but that is strange that you cant do regular word documents with it. Everything seems like a gimmic to get another program...
