Where Can You Find Bookings Beyond Show Contacts?

I wear my PC clothing and pin, carry my PC bag, and am always happy to answer questions about the company.

Besides the contacts that you get from your shows, where else do you find most of your bookings?
I get most of my "new contacts" for shows by doing volunteer work for the Girl Scouts. I just did a bridal shower for someone that has a younger sister in scouts that I taught how to cook over a campfire about six months ago.
All four of my recruits were found because their daughters are also in scouts.

I did a booth at a daycare training event (where they get hours that they are required to have) and I got a few orders and a catalog show off of that and just got a referral for a cooking show. The best part is that it was $50 for the table! Definitely made that back! I've done some larger booths at malls and I don't like them as much as a smaller one with a focus. Also if I am more on top of things I could get some shows from wearing logo wear - just make sure to get their info. I found the worst thing is to wear logo wear and then not be ready to get info (I wore mine out to the mall one day and by the end of my 2 hours there I wasn't feeling well so I didn't respond well to interest - I gave me info, but didn't get theirs).Just my 2 cents :)

I wear my PC shirt to the mall and ask as many questions to every sales person that I can. I took an order for a pizza stone at the Dillards watch counter a few days ago.
I thought I had a recruit at the Lancome counter, but she signed with a relative instead.

First of all, I am trying to picture you at the Lancome Counter, Chef Bobby!:D

I have also found business by wearing Logo Wear. And Alison is right - make sure you are ready to do business if you are going to be wearing it!

I have also been getting more and more business through referrals! I think that comes from having been in the business long enough and having enough repeat customers. Just got a call yesterday from someone looking for a PC consultant, because her friend had been to several of my shows (never booked a show though) and recommended me. Also got an email last month from someone who wanted to book a show - she got my name from a past host who recommended me. So - I guess it's all in the longevity...and keeping my name in front of my customers!

I am going to add on to the above by saying that while you are out and about, wearing your logo wear, don't be afraid to approach someone first, instead of waiting for them to ask you.

I heard a great line from Conference for when you are waiting in line at the grocery store. you can strike up a conversation by asking, "So, what are you fixing for dinner tonight?........With my Pampered Chef business, I am always looking for new recipes to try out. Are you familiar with The Pampered Chef?

Don't be afraid to start a conversation by coming straight out and asking, "I have a challenge today to talk to 3 people about The Pampered Chef. Are you familiar.......?"

While in Chicago, I got 5 leads, just by asking first.

Booths are also another great way to get bookings.

I have not been able to perfect my response when they say they are not familiar with Pampered Chef. What, exactly, do you tell them when they say "No"?

I had read a lot of advice saying to do this, but I could never, based on I would have a total automatic hate on for anyone who did this to me. That would make me feel so trapped and annoyed; I could never do it myself.

I feel the same way....I do not like being approached that way, and would always consider it a marketing scheme.
I wear my PC clothing and pin, carry my PC bag, and am always ready to chat if someone asks. I feel like what I do is an invitation for them to open the conversation if they are interested. And I get plenty of conversations started that way! I've gotten orders and bookings just by doing that.

Besides - I'm weird, and I'd much rather book at the show. When I am out running errands and shopping, and going to Dr's. appts, etc....I don't want to have to always be working my business.

Sometimes (GASP!) I don't even wear PC clothing, and I don't mention to anyone that I am a PC consultant. I am in this business so I don't have to work all of the time!

The reason I went there to start with was because the manager called me wanting to host a show. I could have been interested in buy a gift. I buy perfume for my wife a the Este Lauder counter.

Today I had to take my son to the heart specialist. The medical assistant was so nice and approachable. I had contemplated asking her about pampering the office, but decided I would ask if I could leave a catalog in the waiting room. She was very friendly and said I could. Then she said she has 2 close friends who are consultants, so I didn't push any further. But I was proud of myself for getting up the courage to ask to leave that catalog behind. Who knows what good will come from it, but you never know, right?! :)

here is something else that might help- I sent it to my girlfriend last night, that is considering the biz, to show her that business is everywhere, if you look out of the box.
