What are some good seasonings for 30 minute chicken?

look for it in the spice section of the grocery store.I usually use the Kitchen Spritzer and spritz the chicken with oil, and then use one of our Seasonings, such as the Smoky BBQ rub, Italian Seasoning, Jamaican Jerk Rub, or Southwestern. I also sprinkle it with the paprika. Everybody always loves this chicken, and there is usually nothing left to it at the end of the night.I will probably try it soon. A lot of the recipes make more than for just 2-3 people which is what it is usually like at my house but I just recruited my 2 aunts to come for dinner, I am going to suggest once a week so that I can try new recipes

I know that a lot of you have tried this, I have not tried it yet. So do you make it exactly like the recipe says or do you use a different seasoning/mixture, what is it??

I have been substituting the Smoky BBQ Rub for the paprika in the recipe....and I have also substituted McCormick's Rotisserie Chicken Seasoning for the paprika. That is really good too.

The smoky bbq rub is AWESOME!!

Anyone else have any suggestions??

My advice is, make sure the seasoning has some sort of paprika or chili powder in it. Otherwise, it will look pale and unappetizing, since it doesn't get browned.

I am going to bump this again...hopefully someone else has an idea...I like the ones that I got so far but I like a lot of ideas.

Well, one of the things I always do when I roast a chicken in the oven is to slice a lemon, and also slice a couple cloves of garlic (works great in the UM) and slide the slices under the skin of the chicken. Then, the rest of the slices I stick in the cavity. Of course, with this, you would still want to use the browning mix on the chicken if you are doing it in the microwave.

When I roast turkey, I put a quartered apple and a cinnamon stick in the cavity (sounds weird, but it "scents" the bird more than it flavors it). I imagine that would be good in a chicken, too.

This is my duaghter's favorite recipe. She can do it herself (almost). I rub the chicken down w/the Garlic Canola oil or the Basil oil and then she just picks seasonings at random to sprinkle on it. She mostly uses the Crushed Peppercorn and Garlic, but she has used all the Pantry seasoning (not at once). She loves when I do this for shows, because she gets to season. We are having an issue with over seasoning our dinner lately. But she is learning. Anyway to answer your question; we mostly follow the recipe, just add our own touch to it! Hope you try it soon. Good luck!

The great thing about the 30 minute chicken is that if you have a smaller family, you can get 2 meals out of it. We usually eat it first as a roast chicken dinner, and then a day or 2 later I will make chicken burritos, or enchiladas, or chicken chili, or have a Southwest 7 Layer Salad or BBQ chicken salad......

so, isnt paprika a strong seasoning? I always thought it was strong. How much paprika do you have to use to give it that look?

Paprika can be spicy or weak. It depends on the type (sweet, hot) and the age. There isn't a whole lot in the rub, but there's enough that if you used a fresh, hot Hungarian paprika, you'd taste it. :)

is there a way to pick a good paprika?
Thanks btw!

Find a reputable spice merchant. One I like is Penzey's. They have retail stores around the US, as well as mail order (online and catalog). They're online at PENZEYS Spices Home Page

Hungarian paprika is the sweet kind, usually.
