Hi I am having my open house next week and I wanted to display the trifle bowl but needed ideas as to what to put in it. I figured with mother's day coming up it would be a nice gift. or any ideas at ohow to promote hwc with it? any ideas? thanks

Find some pretty pink flowers with long stems. Put rocks or clear marbles in the bottom (1/4 - 1/3 full), fill 1/2-way with water, then place the flowers inside. Makes a beautiful centerpiece, and you can highlight the HWC pink items with the pink flowers.

I did the fruit salad they show in the catalog.

**okay so I missed the part about hwc!! lol duh!!

I had a HUGE turn out when I put the shrimp around the rim and ice inside. It's on the flip chart picture. EVERYONE raved about it! AND it looked SO cute too!

What about punch?

Frequently Asked Questions

What are some creative ideas for using a trifle bowl at an open house?

Trifle bowls are perfect for showcasing layered desserts, salads, or even savory dishes. For an open house, consider creating a colorful fruit trifle with layers of sponge cake, whipped cream, and fresh berries. Alternatively, you can create a layered salad with greens, vegetables, cheese, and dressing for a refreshing option. These visually appealing dishes will not only taste great but also serve as beautiful centerpieces.

How can I incorporate a trifle bowl into a Mother's Day gift?

A trifle bowl makes a thoughtful and practical Mother's Day gift. You can fill it with homemade treats like cookies or brownies, or create a dessert kit with all the ingredients needed to make a trifle. You could also include a recipe card for a favorite trifle recipe. Wrapping the bowl in cellophane and adding a decorative ribbon can enhance the presentation, making it a lovely gift for any mom.

What types of desserts work best in a trifle bowl?

Trifle bowls are versatile and can hold a variety of desserts. Classic options include layered cakes, such as chocolate or vanilla sponge, combined with custard, fruit, and whipped cream. Other great choices are parfaits made with yogurt and granola, or even ice cream sundaes with layers of toppings. The key is to choose ingredients that complement each other and create a visually appealing presentation.

Can I use a trifle bowl for savory dishes?

Absolutely! Trifle bowls are not just for desserts. They can be used for savory dishes like layered dips, pasta salads, or even a colorful vegetable display. For example, you can create a seven-layer dip with beans, guacamole, salsa, cheese, and sour cream, or a pasta salad with layers of rotini, vegetables, and dressing. The clear glass allows guests to see the beautiful layers, making it an attractive addition to any table.

What are some tips for making a trifle that looks great?

To create a visually stunning trifle, start with a clear trifle bowl to showcase the layers. Use contrasting colors and textures, such as bright fruits, creamy layers, and crunchy elements. Be sure to evenly distribute the layers for a balanced look. You can also garnish the top with fresh fruit, whipped cream, or chocolate shavings for an extra touch. Allow the trifle to chill before serving to help the layers set and enhance the flavors.
