Transferring Files from XP to Vista Laptop

In summary, to transfer files from an old XP computer to a new Vista laptop, you can use the Windows Easy Transfer tool found in the "Accessories" folder on your XP computer. This tool allows you to transfer all files and settings at once or select specific files and folders. No special cables or equipment is needed, as you can use a USB flash drive, external hard drive, or network connection. While most files and settings should transfer successfully, some may not be compatible with Vista. You can also use the Windows Easy Transfer tool to transfer files from a Vista laptop to an XP computer by selecting the "transfer from another computer" option on the XP computer.

I just purchased a laptop with Vista. I wanted to copy my information from PP3 desktop (XP). But when I tried to transfer with gig stick it would say invalid path. So how do I fix that? Thanks.

You need to install the program directly to your computer and then transfer the data. The tech staff at HO can walk you through any glitches you may have with it. THEY ARE GREAT!!
