What an awesome idea! Wish I would have known this years ago!
 
BIG writing or designs: Lay it out on your photo editing program, Microsoft Word, etc. Print it out on paper and allow time for the design to dry! You don't want wet ink on your cake. Lay it on the cake, printed side UP (you don't want that ink getting wet & transferring to the cake or backwards on the cake) and then (instead of "tracing" the design) you'll use your toothpick to go along & poke holes every 1/4-1/2 inch through the boarder of what ever it is you are putting on the cake. It's a great way to get your layout for animated characters like Mickey Mouse, etc.!!!
