I had someone ask me the other day if we carried these.
You know, the square ones.
I directed her to the Santuko, which is not what she was looking for, but was interested.
Did we ever sell a Butcher knife?
What would be comparable?

We do not have anything really comparable to the butcher knife. The Chef's knife is pretty sturdy but I'm not sure how safe it would be to use it like a butcher's knife.

okay here's a question for those of you who own "butcher" knives. I showed up at a show and the host was using one of the "butcher" knives to cut cheese??? I gave her the chef's knife but as we all know she could have used the cheese knife but since she was using that huge thing anyway I figured she could try out the chef's knife.

Anyways, my question is-what exactly is the "butcher" knife for????

Cleaving chickens into pieces. Cutting raw meat that is in large sizes into smaller sizes.

I had a customer ask if one of our new knives could be used as a cleaver and the PC Test Kitchen said:

"NO WAY!" Our knives have a thin tip for finer cutting and using any one of them as a cleaver would ruin it. These knives are sharp but can not be used to cut through bone.
