Can anyone give me some pointers, I was just booked for my first Celebrations show. It happens to be Dim Sum, and I haven't a clue of what to do. What products, what recipe(s), do I need new kitchen tools? Please advise.

Did you receive the big tri-fold Celebrations folder? There's an outline for each one of the three shows, as well as recipes and an example of the recipe card that can be handed out at those shows. I would think that would have come with any paperwork packages. I'm not sure how long you've been a consultant, but that would have come with the changeover paperwork I believe when the new season started. I believe you can at least find the recipes on CC.

you can also look in your season's best recipe book for recipes. The one that is suggested by pampered chef in the potsticker thingys...i've never done it so i couldn't tell you. Also, on consultant's corner, there is an are under products and recipes or something that has all of the celebrations show recipes and such.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Dim Sum and how do I prepare for my first celebration?

Dim Sum is a traditional Chinese meal consisting of small dishes served with tea. To prepare for your first celebration, start by researching various dim sum dishes and selecting a mix of steamed, fried, and baked options. Gather the necessary ingredients and kitchen tools, and consider inviting friends or family to help with the preparation and cooking process.

How many dishes should I prepare for a Dim Sum celebration?

For a Dim Sum celebration, it's common to prepare a variety of dishes. Aim for 5 to 10 different items, depending on the number of guests. This allows everyone to sample a range of flavors and textures, making the experience more enjoyable. Remember to include both savory and sweet options to cater to different tastes.

What types of dishes are popular for a Dim Sum celebration?

Popular dim sum dishes include dumplings (like shrimp or pork), buns (such as char siu bao), spring rolls, and sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaves. Additionally, consider including desserts like egg tarts or sesame balls. A mix of these dishes will provide a well-rounded experience for your guests.

How can I make my Dim Sum celebration more authentic?

To enhance the authenticity of your Dim Sum celebration, consider using traditional serving methods, such as bamboo steamers for steaming dumplings and small plates for serving. Incorporate Chinese tea into the meal, as it is a customary beverage served with dim sum. Additionally, playing Chinese music in the background can help set the mood.

What are some tips for serving Dim Sum to guests?

When serving Dim Sum, present the dishes on a large table or buffet-style setup to encourage guests to help themselves. Use small plates for individual servings and provide chopsticks and small bowls for dipping sauces. Encourage guests to try different dishes and share their favorites, creating a communal and interactive dining experience.
