New Use for the Easy Read Measuring Colander

A friend and host of mine recently found an iced coffee recipe that she wants to try at an upcoming show. (Cold-Brew Iced Coffee) I have the Easy Read Measuring Colander, and tried using it instead of a regular strainer. It works wonderfully! The bottom of the colander holds the coffee filter similar to the way the basket in your coffee maker does.

The holes in the colander are small enough to catch all the coffee grounds and keep them from getting into the finished drink. The colander is also very easy to clean afterwards.I think this is a great way to make iced coffee, and it's definitely worth trying if you're having a show. Not only will it save you time with straining, but it'll also give you a nice cold-brewed cup of iced coffee. Plus, it looks great in your kitchen!

To make the iced coffee, you will need:- 1 cup coarsely ground coffee- 4 cups cold water- Ice- Milk or cream (optional)- Simple syrup or sweetener of your choice (optional)Instructions:1. In a large pitcher or jar, combine the coarsely ground coffee and cold water. Stir to make sure all the coffee grounds are fully saturated.2. Cover the pitcher or jar and let it sit at room temperature for at least 12 hours, or overnight. This will allow the coffee to steep and create a strong and flavorful cold brew.3. After 12 hours, place the Easy Read Measuring Colander over a large bowl or another pitcher. The colander should sit comfortably on top of the bowl, with the bottom of the colander touching the bottom of the bowl.4. Pour the cold brew mixture into the colander and let it drain through. The colander will act as a filter, catching the coffee grounds and allowing the liquid to pass through.5. Once all the liquid has drained through, discard the coffee grounds and rinse the colander.6. To serve, fill a glass with ice and pour the cold brew over the ice. If desired, add milk or cream and simple syrup or sweetener to taste.7. Stir and enjoy your homemade cold-brew iced coffee!
