My Niece Just Posted a Picture on Fb Saying She Was at Urgent Care

Re: Oops! The protective cover is a great idea! I have never used one before, but I will definitely start using them from now on.

My niece just posted a picture on FB saying she was at Urgent Care with her soon-to-be SIL who just cut open her finger on a PC paring knife! Sharp little things! I've cut myself on many products including the kitchen spritzer but never enough for a doctor visit!

Re: Oops!Corporate might have to put out a notice "WARNING: Knives cut" ;)

(Making a sarcastic joke of the fact that McDonalds has to warn people that Coffee is hot after they had a lawsuit filed against them.)

Seriously though, sorry that she got injured! I hope the cut's not too bad.

Re: Oops!I always tell ppl that those little things are sharp!! I still have one from 10 years ago that is still real sharp

Re: Oops!those little things scare me. (seriously). I only use the forged knives - in the long run, cheaper than a trip to emergency.

Re: Oops!My MIL cut her finger on the Pinepple Wedger and refuses to use it now. She was washing it before sticking it in the DW. I think all of our cutting tools are very sharp.

Re: Oops!It is a testament to how sharp our cutting tools are! I always tell everyone to BE CAREFUL because even the little $1.50 knives will cut you! I hope she's ok!

I took a little chunk out of my thumb on the pineapple wedger. Wouldnt stop bleeding for what seemed like forever!!!

but it was my dumb butt for trying to push it through the rest of the way. Gotta remember not to do that. I did it on the apple wedger as well. Im always cutting myself so I have a ton of horror stories with PC products. Hell the other day I was washing the blades of the MFP and sliced my finger nail off, thank God it was just the nail!!!!

I tell everyone that ALL of our blades are sharp, hence the protective covers!!!

Re: Oops!I had a customer cut open the palm of her hand just below her thumb with a Quikut. 21 stitches later and she may never have full use of the thumb ever again as she cut most of the tendon! UGH! I felt awful! I had no idea what to do as I had told her I did not use them. They scare me too so...

Re: Oops!WOW, this almost makes me scared to give them out anymore!!!!

Re: Oops! For pity sakes- they are KNIVES. :) Knives cut food- they'll cut flesh. It happens.
Granted, I cut myself on the UM (the current one) and went to the ER...not that it did any good- they just put a really big bandage on it (no stitches). But I got good drugs out of the deal. ;) I wouldn't touch the UM for about a year- and I still can't feel the end of my finger.Like Sheila said- coffee=HOT; Knives=sharp! maybe folks are so used to the crappy stuff you buy at Walmart they don't think it will really cut. LOLBut after reading about John's customer and the 21 stitches, I may not let my kids use the quikut knives anymore!! I let them use those instead of steak knives when they need something more than a butter knife. Might have to just give them some of my old steak knives instead- maybe less sharp! ;)

Re: Oops!Patty - just remember to line it up properly! That thing is so sharp, I have cut right through the cover without even realizing it! It would have to be with that thick skin on the pineapple! But my poor cover looks more like a colander now than a cover! I was shocked when I heard about this from this lady. It was all wrapped up when she first told me and I could not believe it was 21 stitches. It was 11 internal, and 10 outside. It took over a month to heal and she even had to go on a mega dose of antibiotics because an infection set in! She told me she was cutting potatoes for potato something or another and it just slipped. She had the potato on a cutting board so... I do not like them because they flex to much and the handle does get slippery if it is even slightly wet. Hey if those things can damage my cutting boards as much as they do, you know they can do some damage to a soft hand!

Re: Oops!I use the cover for the pineapples also but like John said make sure it's line up correctly! I cut it all the way until it won't go any more and then take off the skin parts. Line up the cover and press the rest of the way. I did cut mine once but that's okay with me.

Re: Oops! There actually are warnings on the paring knives... they look like children's knives, but they are anything but!

Re: Oops!I would not give a child this knife or any sharp knife. I wouldn't even let them use a dulled knife. I have cut myself for with a "sharp" knife that had dulled than with a good sharp knife.
