Snow day here, too. Of course the kids have been up and playing since 5:30. Why can't they sleep in? The days they HAVE to get up are nightmares; I am sure they are going to drive me nuts today!

No downed trees that I can see, but last summer we had a wind storm that sliced my beautiful maple right down the middle. It fell on the house.

Well, not my house, but the children's plastic playhouse. Was glad to see that thing go:D .

I should call too, but everyone's home. I am never productive when the entire family is home. No excuses. I'll try to get my three contacts in today. I should call to invite for my spring preview because I still haven't printed my invites. My printer comes tomorrow.

My kitchen window blew wide open in the middle of the night and my dh tried to close it as best he could before work, but it's not closed all the way (you have to go on the roof to close it) so I have a nice gust in my kitchen area...I am getting ready to call my dad to come over and help me put some plastic on the window! Craziness!

Why do you have to get on the roof to close it. Is it just because of the bad weather or is that normal. I'm just having a hard time picturing this. (I'm really just wasting time and need to get my day in gear.)

No snow day here. We didn't get that much accumulation, but it's cold!! It's -2 right now. 24 below with the wind chill. My DS has a sore throat, so he isn't going to school. That was nice only because we didnt' have to go stand out at the bus stop at 24 below!! Now to decide if we want to venture out to the dr!

There's no snow here, either. I'm not really sure why they canceled school, to be honest. Yes, it's cold, and the WC is -20, but it was this cold last week, too. I'm guessing because of the gusts? I haven't watched the news, but it is still gusting. Our school system has an automated system to call us and this little ol' lady's voice tells us school's been canceled.

I live in an upstairs duplex with crank out casement windows and the roof is in line w/ the kitchen, our windows are old and they don't close unless you push them shut and nail them...The wind blew the nail out from when we shut all the windows this fall so we have to do it again...of course there's ice on our roof now...LOL

Snow days...what are those? We rarely have those in Wyoming unless the buses are stuck...and trust me that never happens. I think the my entire time in school k-12 there was one snow day! LOL

Love it when my friends talk about the .25 inches of snow they got shutting down the city!

Different worlds !!! LOL:)
I finally made it to the grocery store yesterday, that was fun! The roads are TERRIBLE! And that's with a lot of them being plowed! the grocery store parking lot was a joke! They are forecast as much as 8 inches where I live, the South Hill, which is quite a bit higher than the valley parts of Spokane. The rest of the city is forcasted 4-5 inches by tomorrow afternoon! I really don't know where the heck we are going to put the snow!! Anyway the reason I brought up the store, is because one of the lady checkers, was telling me that her husband is one of the main people for the school bus company, they sent out 13 buses yesterday to test the paths where they have to get the kids, and 6 of them got stuck! He, along with the school district said, forget it! It's not worth it and they didn't want those kids being out in those buses when they are getting stuck! That, compiled with a lot of the kids walk and the paths to the schools have been determined as unsafe! So that is why the schools are closed. School will be closed all week..... Next week, I'm keeping my fingers crossed! They are predicting another 8 inches this weekend! ENOUGH ALREADY!! My b-day is next Tuesday and I was teasing the kids while we were having dinner last night, that at this point a Birthday present would be a quiet home! To have them back in school! I love my children dearly but they are 11 and 7 and they argue like crazy!! In the summer my son, the 11 year old, will ride his bike and he's the only one allowed in the street, my daughter rides on the side walks. My son will ride around out on street and I let him go around the block and all, and he gets away, in the snow, forget it, it's not happening and they can't get away from each other!

When the weathercasters start preaching the White Death, many administrators just cave in right away.

Did you see last week where the kid called the administrator at home to campaign about school not being called off?

No, I missed that. It's winter in Wisconsin, it's cold....Dress warmly! Go to school! I hate that now the kids will have to make it up in June. They already go to school until June 12th. At the rate they're going with cancelations this year, they may as well make school an all-year thing.

I am so tired of this snow The other day the school did a delayed start and they were talking about keeping the kids till 5:00 to make up for the delyaed start time. I am glad they didnt. I dont think I would have been to happy about that

Oh, I would have loved that. It has never come up around here, at least it's never publicly been brought up.

Just as I was about to comment here, I heard a loud noise. Apparently I forgot to close the screen door and I think something broke on it, because its hard to close. Great, my DH will have a fit tonite.

Its really windy here in NJ. Some snow would be nicer.

I did - I was in IL visiting HO the next day and saw it on the news in the hotel room. It was all over the Chicago area news.
