I went to the cancer.org site and got a list of contact emails for my surrounding area. Would it be tacky if I emailed them and asked if they'd be interested in getting more information? Just wondering what everyone does for this :)

How did you get the emails? It depends on how you word it I guess. I would send them a short email letting them know you are interested in helping them with fundraising and that they are welcome to contact you for more information. Don't go into a lot of detail until they respond. Something like this...

"Dear __________, My name is Jen and I am an Independent Consultant with The Pampered Chef. I found your contact information through Cancer.org and know that you are currently trying to raise funds for the Relay for Life. The Pampered Chef has a wonderful fundraising opportunity that I would love to tell you more about if you are interested. Please feel free to contact me at any time for more information. Good luck with all meeting your fundraising goals!"

Be sure to include your email address, phone number and website so they can contact you if they want.

If you can let me know how you found the email addresses, I'd really appreciate it. I'm trying to do the same thing in my own area and can't seem to find the emails. Thanks and good luck!

I went to cancer.org and clicked on the Relay for Life link and did a search for my zip code. Then in each event they have a link and a contact with email. That's what I did. Thanks for your reply - that sounds very professional.

That's how I got the emails. I have had both people I emailed respond and both were very nice. Not the least bit concerned with how I got the email address. I also put in how The Pampered Chef is committed to charitible giving through their two campaigns. Help Whip Cancer and RUFTH. I briefly explained both and then went on to say tha I am also committed to helping others raise money for such great causes, and would like the opportunity to share some fundraising information with them.

I love this

I was told PC will NOT pay for Relay for Life fundraisers ~ only "Whip Cancer" fundraisers. We need to all email them, and tell them how important our "Relay for Life" fundraisers are. I am going to have some really upset team mates. :(

They will pay for ANY fundraiser, however, the up to 25% special in May is ONLY for the HWC fundraisers. Relay for Life can still do a fundrasier and get the money - just up to 15% unless you are kicking in some of your commission.

I would also mention in the email that there are special HWC products for the month of May which will help increase their sales as well as help ACS.

Yes that's what I meant. But if enough of us email in, they sometimes make these kinds of changes I'm told.

Are you serious? I thought that it was 25% for all fundraisers.

I presented to a Relay group on Monday and told them that in May, they would basically be "double dipping." They would get the fundraiser cash and PC would make a corporate donation to ACS for each pink product.

They really liked that when I presented it that way.

I'm confusedif you where doing a fundraiser for the Relay for Life folks, wouldn't it be just that a Fundraiser for HWC? I just shot them an email about it to see if we can't get some clarification on it. I would LOVE to do the RFL fundraisers this year also......

I'll let you know their response......

Relay for Life fundraisers are NOT the same as HWC fundraisers.

For HWC fundraisers, the HO handles sending the contribution directly to ACS. For Relay Fundraisers, they need the check to turn into their local ACS office to count for their teams totals.

The Relay for Life raises funds for American Cancer Society.

Help Whip Cancer fundraisers raise funds for the American Cancer Society.

But in order for the team to get credit for it, and them get the check, it has to be submitted as a Relay fundraiser. When we do HWC fundraisers, the check just gets automatically sent to ACS...

Clear as mud?

ooooh....yes "clear as mud".....jumping ugly are we? LOL....

It's late, cut me some slack.....I just thought about it afterwards....DUH.....
AND am I right in thinking that the new percentages are for MAY only? During the HWC month?

The new percentages are only for May and ONLY FOR HWC fundraisers! On another note, I found the info for my local places. I am traveling to see my parents and do a few shows at the end of April through the beginning of May. I looked out where they live and there is A LOT going on! However, most of the activities have their own website and no email contact info. Any idea on how to find the email contact info?

how are you all finding email addresses for the captains? I can't seem to get any info except for the donations page.

And the info on the HWC insert (linked from the front page of CC), indicates that they HWC findraisers will NOT get the booking benefit (the $3 per booking).

ok I couldn't find individual emails sooooI emailed the county representatives last night. I got 1 email this morning asking for more information. She said she will pass that information on to her teams  Now what do I send her?!?!

I'm excited now, that county has a TON of teams, some very large ones too. Friday (the 1st of the month) is email free day at ACS, so I am going to have to wait until tomorrow and Monday for more replies.

Thanks for everyones help, ideas and I love that letter Heather thanks again :D

Yup May only. You were not being silly to ask your questions!!!!

I think that, although it would be extra work to get the checks sent to the right relay teams, that ALL fundraisers benefiting the ACS should receive the 25% off. Home office can STILL calculate what their overal "donations" are. Please everyone send in your emails. The goal is to HELP WHIP CANCER. PC is *extremely* generous. But this is not a big switch to ask for. Let's all send out emails out in hopes of getting this fixed.

I do like the "double dipping" approach! Thanks for sharing that.

I went to relay for life; punched in the zip code and it gave me the relays in my community. Each county here, has someone through the local ACS representing the entire county. Organizing and keeping track I assume.

I couldn't find emails for individual team leaders so I tried the main contact. It worked
