It is 50 degrees here in upstate New York...which is not a normal for this time of year! Our winters are becoming more and more milder as well. Which is good, except I bought a new snowmobile this year and will be very upset if I can't use it!! On normal, we get lots and lots of snowstorms (a lot of lake effect) .....and cold temperatures, so I might mention the snow procedures to upcoming hosts!!

I will be very pleased if the snow in Newfoundland holds off until next Friday. We are flying there on Thursday, LOL!

We are visiting my parents on the Bonavista Penninsula for Christmas!

Happy flying!! Enjoy :-)

I hope nobody misunderstood my comment about cancelling shows for snow. I *do* understand storms!!! We're in the middle of one right now and lost power this morning.... they got it back up this evening, but are saying it's possibly only temporary until they can make the "real" repairs....

But, anyway.... I love the ideas about making it a call-in show if you do have to cancel!!! (LOL And of course, today, that would not have helped me, either, because I didn't even have phone service! I had to drive to the next town 25 miles away to submit my show to get Christmas delivery!!!!!! So I enjoyed a coffee at a place with wireless internet! lol And then had to hitch a ride home with Dad when chains were required on all vehicles..... now THAT is dedication to the customers, huh?!?!?!?!? LOL)

Here in Houston, snow storms are not the issue....RAIN AND FLOODING! Ugh! I had a show about a month or so ago that was 30 mins away and it poured and poured and poured all day. Low and behold...FLOOD! I was going to call the hostess and cancel on her, but she called me first. The original plan was to turn it into a catalog show, but she called me 2 days later after i sent her an email to see how it was going and said that everyone wanted to come to a show. I had that saturday free and we did it then. Turned out to be a great show afterall! :0)

Oh and can i tell you...it's so hard to get into this christmas thing when we were shopping today in shorts and i have my a/c on! UGH bring on the cold!!! we had a nice taste of it a week or so ago, but it went away....:(

Frequently Asked Questions

What are some effective strategies for securing booking dates for shows?

To secure booking dates effectively, consider offering limited-time promotions or discounts for hosts who book their shows within a specific timeframe. Additionally, use your personal network and social media to create buzz about your upcoming shows, making it easier for potential hosts to commit. Always follow up with interested individuals and provide them with multiple date options to choose from.

How can I encourage potential hosts to commit to a date?

Encourage potential hosts to commit by highlighting the benefits of hosting a show, such as earning free products and exclusive discounts. Share success stories from previous hosts to illustrate the fun and rewards of hosting. Additionally, create a sense of urgency by mentioning limited availability for popular dates or special promotions that coincide with their show.

What should I do if a potential host is hesitant to choose a date?

If a potential host is hesitant, ask open-ended questions to understand their concerns. Offer flexible options, such as virtual shows or themed parties, to accommodate their preferences. Reassure them by explaining the support you will provide throughout the process and how easy it is to host a show with your guidance.

How can I follow up effectively with potential hosts?

Effective follow-up involves reaching out within a few days after your initial conversation. Use a friendly tone and personalize your message based on your previous discussions. Ask if they have any questions or if they need more information about hosting. Providing a few date options during your follow-up can also encourage them to make a decision.

What role does social media play in securing booking dates?

Social media is a powerful tool for securing booking dates as it allows you to reach a wider audience and showcase your products and shows. Use platforms like Facebook and Instagram to share engaging content, testimonials, and event details. Create event pages or groups where potential hosts can interact and ask questions, making it easier for them to commit to hosting a show.
