My aunt has a friend who's husband has luekemia (sp?). This wouldn't really be a fundraiser because the husband will NOT accept any money from anyone. The wife is in need of some new cookware/kitchen tools, but doesn't have the money to purchase them. My aunt is thinking that the friends of the family could host a cooking show & give the benefits to the family.

My question is this - what would be a creative way to promote this to the wife so that she doesn't feel it's charity? My aunt thinks that the family has a lot of friends that are well-to-do & would love to help out. Her goal is to get the family the cookware for free.

My aunt has a cooking show on Tuesday & wanted me to have some ideas together to share with the wife's best friend.

So, any ideas or did I completely confuse you?!?! :)

How about a "mystery host" party, except that everyone but the recipient knows it's fixed.

Good idea Ann...have everyone put a drawing slip in a bowl to draw the host but make sure everyone but this lady knows to write down the lady's name. No matter what you draw, it will be her. :)

Show Ideasbook the friend's show through your Aunt's - then she is eligible for the Host Benefit too. Treat it like a Bridal Show (guests kicking into a "kitty" for the wife) - are they in a milestone year in their marriage (ie 10 years, 25 years, etc.)? The cookware is one of the 1/2 price items - Maybe guests could contribute to that somehow.

Is there a birthday or anniversary coming up that could be used as the "ruse" for the event?

Maybe make it a "cooking class" wherein everyone pays a set fee (and gets so much money in product and the rest goes to the "host")? Do a 50/50 draw? Use the Host Special Item as a Silent Auction Item or raffle?

Is any of this helpful?

Frequently Asked Questions

How can we support our friend without making her feel uncomfortable?

One effective way to support your friend is by inviting her to share her products or services in a casual setting, such as a gathering or a virtual party. This way, she can showcase her offerings without feeling like she is being pitied. Emphasize that you value her skills and want to help her succeed rather than simply giving her charity.

What are some ways to promote her business without it feeling forced?

Encourage your friend to host a fun event where she can demonstrate her products, like a cooking party with Pampered Chef items. Invite friends who genuinely enjoy cooking or entertaining, and make it a social occasion. This approach allows everyone to engage with her business naturally and enjoyably.

How can we encourage others to support her without making it seem like charity?

Frame the support as an opportunity for everyone to discover quality products. You can create a buzz around her offerings by sharing your own positive experiences with her products on social media or in conversations, highlighting their benefits and how they enhance your life.

What should we avoid doing to ensure she doesn't feel like she's receiving charity?

Avoid making her feel singled out or overly dependent on your help. Instead of directly offering financial assistance, focus on promoting her business and encouraging others to purchase from her. This way, she feels empowered and valued for her contributions rather than being seen as someone in need.

How can we celebrate her successes without making it seem like charity?

Celebrate her milestones and achievements publicly, such as reaching a sales goal or launching a new product line. You can do this through social media shout-outs or by organizing a small celebration event. This recognition reinforces her accomplishments and shows that you support her as a business owner, not just as a friend in need.
