My SIL just called me and my BIL made fish on the bar pan last night - SHE HATES FISH! Anyway, he cleaned it properly (well trained man he is! :)) but it still smells like fish! She is freaking!! Its about 4 years old and very well seasoned, so I told her to use baking soda and water and add a little lemon to the paste and let it sit and then rinse it off. Any other suggestions? It doesn't fit in her microwave, so is there something she can bake on it to absorb the odor??

Frequently Asked Questions

What causes fish odor to linger on my Pampered Chef Bar Pan?

Fish odor can linger on your Bar Pan due to the porous nature of the material, which can absorb strong smells from cooking. If the fish was cooked at high temperatures or if the pan was not cleaned thoroughly after use, the smell can become more pronounced.

Why isn't baking soda removing the fish odor from my Bar Pan?

Baking soda is a mild abrasive and deodorizer, but it may not be strong enough to neutralize stubborn odors that have penetrated the surface of the pan. If the odor is particularly strong, you may need to use a combination of methods for better results.

What alternative methods can I use to remove fish odor from my Bar Pan?

Try soaking the Bar Pan in a mixture of vinegar and water for about 30 minutes, then scrub it with a non-abrasive sponge. You can also use lemon juice or a paste made from baking soda and water, applying it to the affected areas and letting it sit for a while before rinsing.

Can I use bleach or harsh chemicals to remove the odor from my Bar Pan?

It is not recommended to use bleach or harsh chemicals on your Pampered Chef Bar Pan, as these can damage the surface and affect its non-stick properties. Stick to gentle, food-safe cleaning solutions for best results.

How can I prevent fish odor from sticking to my Bar Pan in the future?

To prevent fish odor from adhering to your Bar Pan, consider using a layer of parchment paper when baking fish, or marinating the fish in citrus juices before cooking. Additionally, ensure that you clean the pan thoroughly immediately after use to minimize odor absorption.
