I have appointment to meet with a director in my area on Thursday evening. Scared about getting in over my head (I work full time and attend graduate school part time) but I'm hoping that this will help me pay for life a little down the road when I have to do my internship to finish my Masters (some school will get 400 hours of my time for free :eek: ). I've been reading through all the posts on here for the past week or so and it's really helped me to see that everyone wants to help each other. Wish me luck! :)

That's great Heather! I think it's a great addition to anyone's work/family schedule because you can plug it in where you have the time. What are you getting your masters in? I have mine in counseling psych and work PT for that job. I love having PC to balance that out!!

Good luck with everything. Just make a list of every little question you can think of to ask the director on Thursday. Have you been to a show lately? You probably know, but having your own show and applying the host benefits can help buy down the cost of the start up kit. Plus, it's a great way to get bookings all lined up for you!

Thanks for all of the encouragement. Pampered Becky - my masters will be in guidance and counseling (I want to be a school counselor at the high school level). We have a lot in common I'm sure!

Good luck!If you can already juggle work and graduate school, you must be a very organized, capable person. I have no doubt you'll succeed brilliantly. The best thing about being a kitchen consultant is that your kitchen shows will be a nice break from all your other work--a chance to get together with people and have a good time (even though you're technically "working"). WELCOME and CONGRATS!! I also teach full time and have 4 kids. I'm sure you will be able to manage it all. At times of the year it seems overwhelming, but I think that is with anything. That is what is great about PC....you adjust your schedule of shows to your life schedule.

I have a hard time doing much of anything in June because of end of the school year stuff. I worked it out with my director so she takes up the slack then so I can focus on end of school. In times when she is busy at work, I try to pick up the slack for her.
 
Good Luck Heather. We all seem to have a lot in common. I judge volunteering at school and my 4 girls schedules. I work my busy as much as I can. Go have some fun!! :) Don't forget we are a key strock away.

Go for it!!!I DIDN'T sign up back in '99 when I started to work on my masters and now wonder where I would be if I had rather than waiting 6 years!!! I got my masters in Elementary Education Administration. I stay at home with my 2 boys right now and just took comps for my Specialists in the Superintendency today!!! I still have a research paper to do and my practicum. But the moral of the story is, I wish I had gone for it then b/c now I see the benefits and the FLEXIBILITY - and even if you do 2 shows a month - IT'S EXTRA MONEY that you didn't have before!!!!!

I'm doing this while working on my MBA and am glad that I took the plunge and signed up. It's a great distraction from course work, allows for conversations that don't revolve around homework, and give me a reason to do something outside my norm.
