I have a 3 week hole is October where I am bookingless. I have a weeklong display where I excercise and I'm having my annual Mystery Host during that time. I have a couple book shows going plus $2k holdover from Sept. Did tons of calling in Sept. and got November bookings even without mentioning the specials. Odd. I guess with the November Sell a Thon coming up at least I'll have great sales for that.

November is the month I'm worried about. I only have 3 bookings so far and one will probably not happen.

I have been making my calls. I don't understand. Is the economy that bad? Are we that much more busy?

... my last four shows were all over $700 though...

I am glad to know I am not alnoe although sad to think it's happening to all of us right now.
I got no bookings at all at two of my last three shows. Thankfully my October is already full and November I have 7 bookings, two of which I already have guest lists for...but man oh man...people are just NOT booking these days :(

Actually, I'm having a GREAT fall! But then again, I'm kicking my business UP several notches and it's paying off!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a booking gap in direct sales?

A booking gap in direct sales refers to a period where a consultant has fewer or no scheduled parties or events to showcase their products. This can lead to decreased sales and income, making it essential for consultants to actively seek new bookings during this time.

Why might I experience a booking gap in October?

October can be a transitional month for many consultants, as summer parties wind down and the holiday season has not yet fully kicked in. Additionally, people may be busy with back-to-school activities or preparing for Halloween, which can affect their availability and interest in hosting parties.

How can I overcome a booking gap in October?

To overcome a booking gap, consider reaching out to past hosts for re-engagement, offering special promotions or incentives for booking a party, and utilizing social media to showcase your products and generate interest. Additionally, consider hosting virtual parties or themed events to attract more hosts.

What strategies can I use to encourage bookings during this time?

Strategies to encourage bookings include creating urgency by highlighting limited-time offers, promoting holiday-themed parties, and sharing success stories from previous hosts. Engaging with your audience through interactive posts and offering exclusive discounts can also help generate interest.

Should I adjust my sales goals during a booking gap?

While it’s important to remain optimistic, it may be wise to adjust your sales goals realistically during a booking gap. Focus on building relationships, increasing your customer base, and planning for future events rather than solely on immediate sales. This approach can help you maintain momentum and prepare for busier months ahead.
