not sure, but I do my part to keep alot of stores in my area open and the people employed :)

I refuse to use the self checkout lanes anywhere I feel it put cashiers out of work.

the economy in this town seems to be improving. The employment situation for the majority of those who wish to work- is good. But right over the river, things don't seem anywhere near as good.

I don't know officially but from what I've been seeing things aren't too good. I live outside a little town in SE PA and I'm seeing a LOT of for sale signs go up in front of houses... now, I can only imagine it's due to trying to evade foreclosures... I don't remember ever seeing as many signs as I do today... Most the jobs around here are either service (cashier/stockroom) or factory (production/warehouse)... not what you can call high paying jobs. A lot of folks who want to make good money end up having to drive down toward the city (Philadelphia) to do so... and then they're stuck with an awful commute. BTW, I refuse to use self-serve checkout lanes too... I figure they're not giving me a discount to use 'em, I don't like to use 'em and I'm letting someone else do their job. I knew a store that had 'em and took them out due to non-use... so I don't know why these other stores think it's such a good idea.
