Of course they couldn't buy the mixes anymore, but if you won't eat it then it at least gets it out of your house![]()

Lemon bars are a dessert made with a buttery shortbread crust topped with a tangy lemon filling, while lemon cake is a moist cake flavored with lemon zest and juice. The key difference lies in their texture and preparation; lemon bars have a denser, more custard-like filling compared to the fluffy nature of lemon cake.
While you can use lemon cake ingredients to create lemon bars, the preparation and ratios will differ. Lemon bars typically require a shortbread crust and a specific custard-like filling, whereas lemon cake focuses on a batter that rises during baking. It's best to follow a dedicated lemon bar recipe for the best results.
There are many delicious variations of lemon bars! You can try adding ingredients like coconut, blueberries, or raspberries for a fruity twist. Additionally, consider using different citrus fruits, such as lime or orange, to create unique flavor profiles while maintaining the classic lemon bar structure.
To make lemon bars healthier, you can substitute some ingredients with healthier alternatives. Use whole wheat flour instead of all-purpose flour, reduce the sugar content, or use a sugar substitute. You can also incorporate Greek yogurt into the filling for added protein and creaminess without extra fat.
Lemon bars should be stored in the refrigerator to maintain their freshness. Place them in an airtight container, and they can last for up to a week. For longer storage, you can freeze them; just make sure to wrap them tightly in plastic wrap and then in aluminum foil to prevent freezer burn.
