Hi,

I'm experimenting with my cookie press and can't seem to get the dough to stick to the parchment paper or a stone. It will stick to a cookie sheet but that's it. I've tried two different recipes. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

get your counter damp, stick the parchment onto the counter, and then try to get the cookies to stick.

i don't have a problem getting them to stick to cool stones ... they just won't do anything with a warm stone.

is your dough too dried out??

There are some threads here from last year with good recipes and tips. When I took the advice given, I had no problems.

I've checked previous threads and didn't find anything about the dough not sticking to the surface. The dough is nice and soft but definitely not too soft. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'll try wetting the parchment. Any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

do you have your disc facing the right way? I always have to look up the directions and make sure I do thet. It makes a huge difference!

I noticed when I was using the cookie press and stone that if the stone was hot it would not stick. SO now I've changed to using parchment paper on the counter and then moving it onto the stone. Works like a charm!

I think it also depends on the disc. I tried Ann's recipe for PB cookies (PB, sugar and 1 egg) and I could not get it to work with the pumpkin disc, even on cold parchment paper on the counter. But it did come out OK with a different disc. That recipe is pretty firm, so maybe different recipes work better with different discs.

I did read that you have to hold it in place (before pulling it away from the paper/cookie sheet) for different lengths of time depending on which disc you are using. I'm pretty sure that is on the use and care card.

Hi there! I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your cookie press. One thing you could try is lightly greasing the parchment paper or stone with cooking spray or a small amount of oil before pressing the dough onto it. This may help the dough stick better. Also, make sure you are using a firm dough that is not too soft or sticky. If the dough is too soft, it may not hold its shape on the parchment paper or stone. Additionally, you could try chilling the dough for a little while before using the cookie press to make it firmer and easier to work with. I hope these tips help and you are able to successfully use your cookie press! Happy baking!

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do if my cookie press won't stick to the stoneware?

If your cookie press isn't sticking to the stoneware, ensure that the stoneware is clean and dry. Sometimes, residue or moisture can prevent proper adhesion. You can also try lightly greasing the stoneware with a small amount of cooking spray or oil to help the cookies stick better.

Is it normal for the cookie press to not stick on the first try?

Yes, it's not uncommon for the cookie press to have issues sticking on the first try, especially if the stoneware is not prepped correctly. Make sure to follow the instructions for both the cookie press and the stoneware to achieve the best results.

Can I use parchment paper with my cookie press on stoneware?

Using parchment paper can be helpful if you're having trouble with sticking. You can place a sheet of parchment paper on the stoneware before pressing out the cookies. This can help with both sticking and easy cleanup.

What types of dough work best with the cookie press on stoneware?

For the best results, use a dough that is specifically designed for cookie presses. These doughs are typically softer and have a higher fat content, which helps them stick better to the stoneware. Avoid overly dry or crumbly doughs, as they may not adhere well.

How can I prevent my cookie press from clogging when using stoneware?

To prevent clogging, make sure your dough is well-mixed and free of large chunks. If you notice the press is clogging, try using a slightly softer dough or allow the dough to sit at room temperature for a few minutes before using it in the cookie press.
