Yes, it peels like it shows. I guess to do strings you would have to reset it to peel the potato more. It is durable. You can use the stand or mount it onto a counter. I love mine.KYCHEF said:When this thing peels potatoes does it peel it like the apple shown in the catalog picture? Real stringy? My church needs a peeler and curly fry maker for a festival. And the one's they have had in the past peel it really wide....am I making any sense at all? And are they durable. I need to know something so I can order for them ASAP. Thanks
Yes. Its the Corer/Peeler Blade.ShanaSmith said:I have heard that you can peel only, but if you are slicing, you are coring (?) The same blade does both jobs

The recommended thickness for slicing vegetables varies depending on the tool you are using. For example, the Pampered Chef Mandoline Slicer allows you to adjust the thickness from paper-thin to about 1/2 inch, depending on your recipe needs.
To achieve uniform thickness, use the adjustable settings on tools like the Mandoline Slicer or the Food Chopper. Make sure to apply even pressure while slicing and guide the food through the blades steadily to maintain consistency.
While Pampered Chef knives do not have specific thickness settings, it is recommended to slice meats to about 1/4 inch thick for optimal cooking and presentation. Using a sharp chef's knife will help you achieve even slices.
Yes, you can slice fruits and vegetables thinner than the minimum setting by using a sharp knife or a different slicing method. However, be cautious as thinner slices may require more skill to achieve uniformity.
For baking purposes, such as making tarts or pizzas, a thickness of about 1/8 inch is generally recommended for crusts and toppings. This allows for even cooking and a pleasant texture in the final dish.
