I submitted my first fundraiser on Wednesday and on Thursday I got an email saying 2 of the cards were declined.

I called Order #1 who gave me a new card (the first one was a debit card and she didn't have any money in that account).

I called Order #2 who confirmed the info was all correct.

So I call HO this morning. Order #1's new card is declined. Order #2's card is declined still.

I know I shouldn't have, but I put the orders on my own card and emailed both asking me to send me money orders.

I'm a bit annoyed.

It happens quite a bit, they are debit cards that are being declined. ALOT of women walk around thinking they have unlimited amounts in their private accounts...   I am almost to the point of saying NO debit cards, but that would not go over well. I put them on my card as well & keep phoning them nicely:rolleyes: till they pay up....Good Luck with yours...;)

Some cards just won't go through. I have a host who has to use her husband's card due to a lock on hers (she can use it at the store, but not online). She had the lock put on when someone got the number and started using her card fradulently.Where is the show being delivered? I'd have the person who receives the orders hold these 2 until you receive payment. Better yet - you should get them so that you have them until you receive payment. Sad as it is, some people don't think twice about giving out bad CC numbers, even on a fundraiser.

One order is going direct ship to North Carolina and the other is going to the chairperson. I was thinking about asking her to hold on to the order until I got payment also.

This seems to be happening at every show now. One card is a card that was used a previous show and worked fine!

Anything I'm doing wrong? Should I not be accepting debit cards or something??

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do if two credit cards were declined during my first fundraiser?

If two credit cards were declined, the first step is to reach out to the customers whose cards were declined. Inform them of the issue and ask if they would like to provide an alternative payment method. It's also a good idea to check if there were any issues with the payment processing system during the fundraiser.

How can I prevent declined credit cards in future fundraisers?

To minimize the chances of declined credit cards in future fundraisers, encourage your customers to check their card information for accuracy before submitting their orders. Additionally, remind them to ensure that their cards have sufficient funds and are not expired. Providing clear instructions on how to place an order can also help.

What happens to the orders associated with declined credit cards?

Orders associated with declined credit cards will typically not be processed until payment is successfully received. You should communicate with the customers to resolve the payment issue, and once the payment is confirmed, you can proceed with fulfilling their orders.

Is there a way to track declined credit card transactions?

Yes, most payment processing systems provide a transaction report that includes details about declined transactions. You can access this report to identify which cards were declined and reach out to the respective customers for follow-up.

What should I tell my customers if their credit card is declined?

Inform your customers politely that their credit card was declined and encourage them to check their payment details. You can suggest they verify their card information, contact their bank for any issues, or provide an alternative payment method to complete their order.
