GRAND JUNCTION - Thirty four year-old Paige Birgfeld seemed to lead a double life. She was a devoted mother of three living in Grand Junction, but also worked as an adult escort.

Three years after her disappearance, her family and investigators are still looking for answers.

"We certainly we wish we could find her and then we wish those who harmed her are brought to justice," her father Frank Birgfeld said.

When she first went missing in 2007 a massive search effort was launched. Volunteers and law enforcement officials searched the area for any sign of Paige after her car was found burned. Eventually, investigators found her checkbook, blockbuster and insurance cards, and a shoe.

Those findings gave the family hope that Paige would be found as well.

"At the time we felt we were active and making progress. Now we not only don't feel we're making progress but we feel with the silence of the police that it's butting your head against the wall," Frank said.

Police did name Lester Jones as the sole suspect in Paige's disappearance, but he was never arrested.

"We are still waiting on testing that needs to be completed by CBI, Mesa County Sheriff Stan Hilkey said.

According to Hilkey, CBI has a backlog of DNA testing, but hopes to get the results back this year to move forward with the case.

"The point has always been that it's really unreasonable for our district attorney to take this case, look at it and take it to a grand jury or anything until that testing is done. We would love to see justice served for Paige Birgfeld," Hilkey said.

The family had put up a $15,000 reward with the hopes of helping with the investigation and finding Paige.

I certainly hope that answers can be given to and earthly justice can be done for Paige and her family.

I wish I could say I had a strong feeling about this, one way or the other, but I don't. If it were possible to believe the tests they are waiting for would help close the case, I'd be excited, but I'm not confident. At the same time, I have no reason to believe that the test results won't aid in the arrest of someone.I'd still like to know more about the road warrior who sold the hand gun and ran to Texas.
