Not sure if this is where this should go but..

Why did you choose PC? Did you choose it for the discounted products? get out of debt? social aspect? needed something to do? etc.

If you had measurable (sp?) goal did you reach it?

I figure this could be motivation to help you get out there and do more.
Especially if you started like me to get discounted/free products as well as to help get out of debt (or closer to zero) before I get married in December.
 
I joined for the discount really!!! I was spending a fortune on my "habit" and thought it would be good to get a discount. I only planned on doing 6 shows and then drop out. That was Aug/2005!!
 
I joined for the extra income. To help pay off bills and save for our house! I didn't really have any particular goals when I first started, I did it sort of on a whim.
 
I choose PC because I LOVE their products & I'm hoping that this goes well enough that I can quit working at the hospital & do this "full-time" while in school & make enough money that I can possible pay off some tuition bills!?! I also thought this would be a good way to get some products before I get married & also to learn to cook before then too (I must admit, I'm more of a baker than a cook). I'm still working on my goals, but they are listed below in my siggy. I must also mention that I just signed up at the end of December, so I think I'm doing well with PC so far.
 
I signed up for PC so I could first get out of the house a few times a month.

Second to support my PC habit!! :love:

Third to have extra money for family needs, and to purchase a laptop and paid it off 12/07!! Yeah for PC!!

I needed to get the heck out of the house and I wanted to make some money for me.Now I have a house FULL of PC products and I"m living my dream.
 
For the extra money, plain and simple.I used to sell jewelry and found that many of my friends and family would not plunk down $75 or $100 for a necklace and maybe some earrings. They would, however, invest in products to make their lives easier.My goals were not particularly lofty, but they have been met. Even though my commission was 10 percent higher with the jewelry, I think I am making more money, or at least more consistent money, with this.
 
Reasons why I started (Nov 07)
1. Get off the couch and be among people (I work from home and am a single mom)
2. Expand my cooking repetoire (my 11-year old son has primitive taste buds)
3. Make $ for home improvements and my son's Bar Mitzvah

Reasons why I am in this for the long term
1. Building/mentoring a team where everyone wins
2. Free and discounted products
3. Freedom to work the biz the way I want, not the way "the man" wants
4. The "why I joined" reasons still apply
 
I joined because I want kids and my job right now isn't the best for doing so. I want to stay home with them and actually be there for them. I also HATE having a boss (except for me of course). :D
 
I went to my first PC party in 2000, right after college graduation and right before I got married...my mom took me to help me get my kitchen started. Fast-forward SEVEN YEARS...I came to a crossroads in October '07 as a stay-at-home mom who wanted to help contribute to the household income...my DH is in law enforcement and his schedule is never the same from one week to the next, so getting a part-time job where he could help watch the kids on his off days just wasn't an option. This way I can plan my business around MY schedule, regardless of how crazy it is. I get out of the house (gotta love my kids, but come on...we all need a break now and then!) and hang out with "grown-ups" from time to time, and I help other people find their creative side in the kitchen, something I'm also trying to do for myself. It's a win-win situation, basically...plus you've gotta love all the great products!!!
 
I started with PC to get the starter kit for a great price, and to do 6 shows so that I could get Simple Additions for free (it was new at the time - and a qualifying bonus). My intention was to qualify and get out!

I stayed because I discovered I really loved doing shows ~ and I quickly became addicted to the free products and other perks and incentives.

It became a career path, and not just a hobby, when I discovered that at almost 40 yrs old, I was going to be a Mom! All of a sudden, my desire to be a mom was all consuming - and I knew that more than anything, I wanted to be able to stay home with my little guy. PC has allowed me to do that.
 
When I was trying to decide to do PC it was right before a big move. I wanted to do it to help me get out of my shell and to help decorate our new house. I still have yet to do ANY decorating on my house with my PC money but it has really gotten me out of my shell. Right now my PC pays for all my kids activities.
 
Before I became a consultant, PC was the only party plan that I actually had a show for, and the only one that I had ever considered having a show for. I had been to plenty of others, but really loved the quality of the products. I've always loved baking and wanted to be a better cook, and really thought the products could help me with that. I joined when a friend told me she had started selling and asked if I would have a show for her. I started asking her lots of questions and before I knew it, I was signed up with her! I had been at home with my kids for a little over a year, and was missing the interaction with people my age. I was also feeling the pressure of a one-income family and thought it would be nice if I could help out, while also doing something I thought would be easy and fun. I've kept going because none of these things have changed! :)
 
I chose PC because I can only sell what I really think other people need. I feel I need many of these products, though there are products I don't really need. Since becoming an adult who has to pay her own bills, I've become a frugal, practical spender. Other direct sales companies have too many products that are impractical or just not my style. I love food, eating, baking and a little bit cooking. Even though I don't like cooking most of the time, I have to do it almost every day. The right tools make it easier and sometimes fun. PC all the way for me!
 
I chose PC because I wanted to make some extra money to supplement my bookkeeping business money and make being a SAHM easier financially for us. I was also my attempt at learning how to cook and try new, healthy food instead of going out to eat all the time.

I have definitely reached my first goal of supplementing my income. The second is much harder for me, but I am definitely making strides. I had been exposed to PC before - at least 4 years ago - and still used the products that I bought. Also, I hadn't been to a show since then, so I figured the are was not too saturated like it is with PartyLite.
 
what a great question, especially for a newbie like me!

I've decided to get into PC because 1st of all, I LOVE the products! The extra money will definately be nice but it's not my driving force. I honestly don't know what I've decided to get into this but it's something I want to do so here I am.

Here's what concerns me though:
I'm terrified of rejection (I can't believe I've just verbalized that LOL) I'm worried about asking people to book parties with me. Even with friends and family. I really think I could make a good go at this but the thought of having to constantly "worry" about my next booking or having to call people to see if they want to book is scary for me. I really sometimes wonder if I should be doing this at all.
I'm a very outgoing person. I'm "known" for having great parties with friends and family and the yummy food I have. I just don't know how to word things in the right way, even with those I'm comfortable with, in order to not be begging or meek with my request to book even a catalog show! I'm like a sponge on this board soaking up all of your knowledge and tips and even though I'm waiting to officially become a consultant until March 18 (for the incentive as per my Director), I'm still so nervous about those 4 qualifying shows.

Yikes, I've typed a book out! I'll still be here lurking and taking notes about all of the amazing tips and advice you all have, I'll also be working on getting up the nerve to just DO THIS and be done. I do think I can make it work. Now to just convince myself. :p

Hey Aug 05 for me as well!!! Had a show everyone loved everything and booked but there was no one to do the shows in Spanish so I jumped on it. I was only going to do those shows and qualify. :) Now I'm building a great team and three states so far and loving it. I love everything about this business, I was not a good cook and this has given me tremendous confidence in the kitchen. Since I know many also lack this valuable skill recruiting has come easy.

Congrats on your pending marriage, wish you much success with Pampered Chef.

I started because I was looking for a little extra wicome to help out wit h the bills. Plus I needed to be around other people with estrogen:D
I chose PC for these reasons:
1. I am allergic to jewelry, unless it is on my hands or ankles.
2. I live in a rural community. If I put on make up...I am going somewhere.
3. I have to cook....why not get paid for it:chef:
 
I've always loved PC products and felt that if I ever did a DSA biz it'd be PC. I'm not a big sales person but can sell what I love and well, I love PC! Anyway, after 9 years of bookkeeping and 7 years of having to be the breadwinner and support the whole family, we were finally in a position where I didn't have to work full time (which was good - my health wouldn't allow it anyway) and I examined my options. I couldn't just be a SAHM, not after working full time, plus being a mother, wife, and all the things I do outside the home - was just too much of a shift for me. So I researched what it would cost to start, submitted for more info, met with my director and signed on that day (I shoulda timed it better - I had just missed an incentive but ah well). I'm in it to have fun, make some money for the family and help hook others up with great products. I enjoy the 'show' aspect (I guess I don't have to wonder where the acting comes with the kids LOL) of it and not having to go to an office 9 to 5 (or more)... It fits my schedule and when I got sick for a month, I was able to do what I could and not worry about 'going to work' every day. Which is a good thing when you're as sick as I was.
 
I wanted to add another thing, I almost felt like PC picked me. I had been to other direct sales parties, had the consultants try to recruit me but it always sounded hokey! The day I found out that my company was closing two years ago, my aunt had a jewelry party. I mentioned to her that I couldn't buy anything because I was unsure of what was going on. From then on, the consultant was jumping down my throat trying to recruit me. I soon discovered that as I was going to more and more PC parties, I loved the products and started sharing with other guests what products would be great. It just seemed natural to give PC a try!
 
I joined to help with family expences...I am a single mother of two boys. I want ot be able to provide things for my kids, that they deserve to have and I can't afford without and extra income. And this gives me the income, and very flexable hours.
 
I was already working for another direct sales company, and I was planning on quitting soon b/c you were recommended to keep inventory and managing that along with keeping contact with customers, working a full time job, going to school full time, a new baby(2 months) and a new marriage(11 months)-it was madness! I was invited to a PC party, and I fell in love with the products. The consultant asked me if I was interested, and I thought why not. My family still needed a little extra income a month, and PC seemed a thousand times easier; and it is! I love it. My DH is way more supportive of this as well, and this company makes sense. It's easy to understand. I feel like I'm actually a necessity. The other company, I felt I was 1 in a million. The goals were outrageous, and the only way to accomplish them was to do the business full time. That really wasn't a step I was prepared to take. I'm not trying to bash the other company either. It just wasn't my cup of tea, and PC is that and so much more.
 
I joined for extra income, and to this day have never been to a PC Show- except for the ones I put on. lol :)~ I also wanted to try the products (had never had any products) and learn new recipes on a regular basis.
 
i dont know how to cook.

plain & simple.

i went from my daddys house, to my sorority house.
then i became 22 and living alone & eating nothing but frozen/microwavable foods.
i didnt know what certain tools were for. (i used a butter knife for every cutting need).

i have mounting student loans & my little toyota is pushing 200,000 miles.
i told my mom i was going to get a part time job to pay for my SL and new car payment.
she suggested i sell PC. SHE called a consultant (my now director), & set up a party at MY house. i fell in love. signed up a day later.

since then, i have been cooking REAL FOOD. i got spin on salads plus the SBCB. & just by cooking a real dinner every night, ive lost 10 lbs. :D (imagine what it would be if i added exercise).

so the extra money & the potential to learn how to cook with all the right tools was my motivation to start..

my goal right now is to take my baby brother on a roadtrip before he deploys to Iraq in august. whenever i get flustered, i just remember that goal. and i remember that i wouldnt be able to afford it without the extra PC income.

I started my PC businesss because I had a show and some of my friends said " Heather, You would be good at this." and the rest is history. The idea of the extra money was very motivating for me. It was a couple of months before Christmas and it has always been important to me to be able to get my kids what they want from Santa, and also what I want to get them. SO there you have it:)
 
Went to my first PC show 11 years ago when I got my first apartment... LOVED IT!! Had shows about 1 or 2 a year for the next 11 years. Funny never with the same consultant... Anyway I thought about selling it many times over the years. Then this year my credit cards were pilling up and I needed extra $$$ so I talked to I fellow PTA member I knew sold PC (never even been to a show of hers) and told her I wanted to sign up!!! I signed the contact Feb22 and had my first open house March 1st and am asking myself when I didn't start earlier!!! I'm having fun and making $$$ :p
 
I chose PC at first for the extra income. The extra products and discounts are awesome too. At first my goal was to bring in an extra $200 a month and I really believe that is feasible if I can keep steady bookings.
