Aaargh, this is so frustrating. I've thought P3 was great and wonderful, but the HELP topics are terrible.

Okay, I got a new laptop and have installed P3 on it. Quick and simple. Then we put the backup file on a CD and I transferred it to my desktop on new computer. When I try to restore, it seems like it is working (I select the correct backup file) then it closes and reopens P3 but there is still no info there -- shows, contacts, etc.

What the #%&* am I doing wrong?

Thanks for any help.

The file might not have saved correctly from your old PC or to the CD. When writing a CD, you have to make sure you finish the process of burning the CD and that the file is truly readable from the new source.I'd copy the file off the CD onto the laptop then restore...make sure the file actually has data to it.The best way is to transfer via a jump drive from old to new.

It finally worked. Makes no sense, as I did PRECISELY what I had previously done three times with no success. Whatever, it is done!

Thanks!:sing:

I suggest that you get a jump drive to do your back ups from this point on........ I am able to go from laptop to desktop back and forth so easy. They are only $10 - 20 at Best Buy or even Wal Mart. Good Luck..............

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I restore backup info to my new laptop?

There could be several reasons for this issue, including compatibility problems between the backup file and your new laptop's operating system, or the backup file might be corrupted. Ensure that the backup was created properly and that you are using the correct software to restore it.

What should I check before attempting to restore the backup?

Before restoring the backup, check that the backup file is intact and not corrupted. Verify that the software version on your new laptop is compatible with the backup file. Additionally, ensure that you have sufficient storage space on your new laptop for the restoration process.

Can I restore a backup from a different operating system?

Restoring a backup from a different operating system can be problematic. For example, if the backup was created on a Windows machine, it may not restore properly on a Mac. Always check for compatibility and consider using a file transfer method that is suitable for different operating systems.

What if the backup file is missing or not recognized?

If the backup file is missing or not recognized, check the location where the backup was saved. Ensure that you are looking in the correct folder and that the file extension is appropriate. If the file is on an external drive, make sure the drive is properly connected and recognized by your new laptop.

Is there a way to recover data if the backup restore fails?

If the backup restore fails, you may still have options to recover your data. Check if there are alternative recovery tools available that can help retrieve data from your old laptop or backup files. Additionally, consider reaching out to technical support for assistance in recovering your data.
