I have a customer looking for a dutch oven. We sold one as part of the Gen II set and I don't see one in the current catalog... or did I miss something?

Nope. The closest would be the Casserole or the Stock Pot.

4 qt. CasseroleThe casserole is the same size, and because it's oven safe, operates the same way.

I made the Chipotle (sp?) Oven Chile from the Soups, Stews & Chilis cards, and it calls for the Generation II Dutch oven. I made it in the 4 qt. from the Executive line, and it was great!

Can you keep the lid on it? Are they oven safe?

For me, that's one of the biggest selling points of our cookware. It is completely OVEN SAVE. Professional up to 350, Executive up to 400.

And, yes, the lids are too.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I find the best Dutch oven for my cooking needs?

You can find the best Dutch oven at various retailers, both online and in-store. Popular options include kitchenware specialty stores, department stores, and online marketplaces like Amazon, Walmart, and the official websites of brands like Le Creuset and Staub. Consider checking customer reviews and ratings to help guide your decision.

What size Dutch oven should I choose?

The size of the Dutch oven you need depends on the number of people you typically cook for and the types of dishes you prepare. A 5 to 7-quart Dutch oven is versatile for most families, while smaller sizes (3 to 4 quarts) are great for side dishes or smaller meals. Larger sizes (8 quarts and above) are ideal for batch cooking or entertaining.

What material is best for a Dutch oven?

Cast iron is the most popular material for Dutch ovens due to its excellent heat retention and even cooking. Enamel-coated cast iron offers the same benefits while being easier to clean and available in various colors. Some options also include stainless steel or non-stick materials, but they may not provide the same cooking performance as cast iron.

Can I use a Dutch oven on the stovetop and in the oven?

Yes, most Dutch ovens are designed for both stovetop and oven use. However, it's essential to check the manufacturer's instructions, as some models may have limitations based on their materials or coatings. Generally, cast iron Dutch ovens can withstand high oven temperatures and are suitable for braising, baking, and stovetop cooking.

How do I care for and maintain my Dutch oven?

To care for your Dutch oven, avoid using metal utensils that can scratch the surface, especially if it has an enamel coating. Clean it with warm, soapy water and a non-abrasive sponge. For cast iron models, it's important to dry it thoroughly and apply a thin layer of oil to prevent rust. Regular maintenance will help prolong the life of your Dutch oven.
