I have a Host who will have guests on diets. So, she is thinking something "low fat, low cals and so forth." But, she is afraid if she does this, she will get "something with no flavor that stinks." She says she doesn't like "foods with the low fat, low sodium, no calories type. It takes all the flavor away."

So, what should I advise her? It's my first Sunday show at 2 p.m. I was kind of leaning towards a Taste of the Caribbean show but haven't made the Salmon Cakes or the Colossal Chopped Salad, which both look like they would fit the bill. But would it be better to go with Dulce de Leche Bites or the Profiterole Puffs? Sunday afternoon is an odd time. Hard to figure out what to make.

Thanks for your help.

what if you did a chopped salad and then something fruity and simple like a fruit salsa with the cinnamon tortilla chips? (you could add mango to your fruit salsa for a tropical twist)

That's a good idea! And you can serve lemonade made with Splenda in the QSP (show off the UM, too).

Frequently Asked Questions

What are some low-calorie recipes I can showcase at my Sunday Afternoon Show?

Consider making a light and refreshing salad, such as a quinoa and black bean salad, or a vegetable stir-fry with a low-calorie sauce. You could also prepare a fruit salsa served with baked tortilla chips or a healthy dip like hummus paired with fresh veggies.

How can I make my low-cal recipes appealing to guests?

Presentation is key! Use colorful ingredients and arrange them beautifully on platters. You can also serve samples in small, attractive cups or bowls. Adding garnishes like fresh herbs or a drizzle of balsamic glaze can enhance the visual appeal and flavor.

What kitchen tools from Pampered Chef can help me prepare low-cal meals?

Utilize tools like the Food Chopper for quick vegetable prep, the Mix 'N Chop for lean meats, and the Spiralizer for creating veggie noodles. The Quick Slice and the Microplane Zester can also help you create healthy dishes with ease.

How can I keep my guests engaged during the cooking demonstration?

Involve your guests by asking them to help with simple tasks, such as chopping vegetables or mixing ingredients. Encourage questions and share tips about healthy cooking. You can also offer taste tests and have a discussion about the benefits of low-calorie eating.

What drinks can I serve alongside my low-cal dishes?

Offer refreshing beverages like infused water with fruits and herbs, herbal iced teas, or sparkling water with a splash of fruit juice. You can also prepare a light mocktail using club soda, fresh fruit, and a hint of lime for a festive touch.
