I'm hoping someone can help. I purchased a new fridge when we built our new house back in August and JUST got around to giving it a good scrubbing out today :o . When putting the crisper drawers and tray back in I moved the sliders for the humidity levels in the drawers. I know one was on the low end and one was on the higher end (one for veggies, one for fruit) but I have no idea which was which. Does anyone know? I can't find my new manual either - schmuck! :D

I cannot remember because mine at home as little drawings of a veggie or fruit to tell you which side!

Go to the manufacturer's website. You can find the manual online.

Veggies are high humidity (fewer vents open) fruits are low humidity (more vents are open)

Thanks so much Robin! :D I tried to take Deb's advice but with dialup internet it was taking FOREVER to download the manual and it finally timed itself out. Now I just KNOW I'll find the manual tomorrow. I like everything super neat so I chose a 'safe' spot for it the week we moved in and since we weren't really set into a routine here in the new place yet, what made total sense then doesn't now or I woulda found it!  :)

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the ideal humidity levels for crisper drawers in a new fridge?

The ideal humidity levels for crisper drawers typically range from 80% to 90% relative humidity. This helps to keep fruits and vegetables fresh by reducing moisture loss.

How do humidity settings in crisper drawers affect food storage?

Humidity settings in crisper drawers help control the moisture levels around fruits and vegetables. High humidity is beneficial for leafy greens and vegetables, while low humidity is better for fruits that produce ethylene gas, like apples and bananas.

Are there different humidity settings for different types of produce?

Yes, many refrigerators have separate humidity controls for different crisper drawers. One drawer is often set for high humidity (for vegetables), while the other is set for low humidity (for fruits).

How can I adjust the humidity levels in my fridge's crisper drawers?

To adjust the humidity levels, look for a slider or dial inside the crisper drawer. Moving it to the "high" setting increases humidity, while moving it to the "low" setting decreases it.

What happens if the humidity levels in the crisper drawers are not optimal?

If the humidity levels are not optimal, produce may spoil faster or lose quality. High humidity can lead to mold growth, while low humidity can cause fruits and vegetables to wilt or dry out.
