This is one of those, "I think I already know the answer, but I'm gonna ask anyway" types of question...
I was just looking on Craigslist and found a posting for some items that would be great as door prizes or giveaways, but they are all discontinued items. PC still has the items, but these are the "older" versions. Would it be wrong/tacky to use them as giveaways?

Absolutely not!! Use them. I use really old season's bests for some of my giveaways!!

You can always say, "This version has been discountinued and is really hard to find now!" That makes it seem more exciting for them to win it.

Good to know

One good thing about giving away items that aren't available for purchase is that way they won't say, "Yay! A mini-whipper, I was just about to order that. Now I can cross it off my list!" :D

Ok, well those answers were actually different than I would have thought! I guess I will get the products and give them away.
Thanks for the input.

It's like getting stuff from the Outlet for giveaways!Don't call them discontinued - call them retired! All of a sudden, they are much more valuable in peoples eyes. :D

call them "VINTAGE" it always gets a laugh

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it acceptable to use discontinued Pampered Chef items as giveaways in my direct sales business?

Using discontinued Pampered Chef items as giveaways can be acceptable, as long as you are transparent with your customers about the item's status. Many customers appreciate receiving unique or hard-to-find items, but it's important to ensure they understand that the product is no longer available for purchase.

Will using discontinued items as giveaways reflect poorly on my brand?

It depends on how you present the giveaway. If you frame it as a special treat or a nostalgic item, it can enhance your brand's image by showing that you care about offering unique experiences. However, if the item is perceived as outdated or undesirable, it could detract from your brand's reputation.

How can I ensure that my customers view discontinued items positively?

To ensure a positive perception, highlight the unique features or benefits of the discontinued item in your marketing. Share stories or testimonials about how the item has been loved by others, and create excitement around the giveaway by promoting it as a limited-time opportunity.

Are there any legal or ethical considerations when using discontinued items as giveaways?

Generally, there are no legal issues with giving away discontinued items, but it's important to check Pampered Chef's policies regarding the use of their products in promotions. Ethically, you should be transparent about the item's status and ensure that it is in good condition before giving it away.

What are some creative ways to use discontinued items as giveaways?

You can create themed giveaways by pairing discontinued items with current products, or use them as part of a larger promotional event, such as a cooking demonstration. Additionally, consider using them as prizes for contests or raffles to engage your audience and generate excitement around your brand.
