My host next week has requested steak fajitas in the dcb. Has anyone tried this? How do you do it? I am probably an expert at the chicken ones, but I'm a little clueless about what to do for steak ones. What cut of steak? How do I prep it before? Anything else get changed? Any help is appreciated.

Anyone? I'd hate to waste good steak!

I personally don't like how steak cooks in the microwave. I wouldn't try it. I'm thinking you would have to marinate it. You could call the test kitchens to see what they say?

What if you just did the veggies in the DCB, and did the steak in the grill pan?

I just don't think steak would work really well in the micro.:yuck:

My thoughts exactly! Plus an opportunity to get cookware in there!

Frequently Asked Questions

What ingredients do I need to make steak fajitas?

To make steak fajitas, you will need the following ingredients: flank steak or skirt steak, bell peppers (red, green, and yellow), onions, olive oil, lime juice, garlic, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. You can also include tortillas and toppings like sour cream, guacamole, and salsa for serving.

How do I prepare the steak for fajitas?

Start by marinating the steak. Combine olive oil, lime juice, minced garlic, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Add the steak and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours in the refrigerator for more flavor. After marinating, grill or sear the steak over high heat for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, then let it rest before slicing.

What is the best way to cook the vegetables for fajitas?

For the vegetables, slice the bell peppers and onions into thin strips. Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat and add a bit of olive oil. Sauté the vegetables for about 5-7 minutes until they are tender and slightly charred. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Can I use a different type of meat for fajitas?

Yes, you can use different types of meat for fajitas. Chicken, shrimp, or even tofu for a vegetarian option can be great alternatives. Just adjust the cooking time accordingly, as different proteins will require different cooking times to ensure they are cooked through.

What are some tips for serving steak fajitas?

When serving steak fajitas, keep the tortillas warm by wrapping them in foil or placing them in a tortilla warmer. Serve the sliced steak and sautéed vegetables family-style, allowing guests to assemble their own fajitas. Provide a variety of toppings like sour cream, guacamole, salsa, and shredded cheese to enhance the flavor and customize each fajita.
