I saw a want ad on Craigslist for PC replacement parts. I responded and saw a name that looked familiar. It was the same name as a boy I graduated from High School with and went all through grade school. I emailed the man back and asked if he graduated from Gladstone High School. He emailed me back and said he did, in 1987. OMG. It's my classmate I haven't seen since the year I graduated. I'm now 40 years old. I left him my number to chat and of course, to find out what replacement parts he needed. I just had to share!

It's a small world...and as you get older, you'll find it gets much smaller.

So true Kitchen Guy. But I like to follow the old saying: "You're only as old as you feel" and I DON'T feel 40.

Alright Di, it's nice to know I'm not alone. Maybe it's me, but I just saw some "famous" model on a cover of a magazine and it made a comment of her being 40 now. I thought she looked in her late 40s. I don't feel, nor look 40 and surprise a lot of people.

I feel with my fingers.

KG,
That's what my great grandma said at her 100th birthday party in the late 1960's when an interviewer asked her how she felt!

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I reconnect with a high school classmate after 20+ years?

Reconnecting with a high school classmate can be as simple as reaching out through social media platforms like Facebook or LinkedIn. You can also try searching for their contact information online or through mutual friends. If you have a specific reason, like a Craigslist ad for PC parts, mention that in your message to spark their interest.

What should I include in my message when reaching out?

When reaching out, include a friendly greeting, a brief introduction of yourself, and a mention of your shared past. If you are referencing a Craigslist ad, explain your interest in the PC parts and how it relates to your desire to reconnect. This personal touch can make your message more engaging.

Is it appropriate to mention the Craigslist ad in my message?

Yes, mentioning the Craigslist ad can provide a natural segue into your conversation. It shows that you have a specific reason for reaching out and can help break the ice. Just ensure that your message remains friendly and not overly focused on the transaction.

What if my classmate doesn't respond?

If your classmate doesn't respond, don't take it personally. People may be busy or may not check their messages frequently. You can consider sending a follow-up message after a week or two, but be respectful of their space and decision not to engage.

How can I keep the conversation going once we reconnect?

To keep the conversation going, ask open-ended questions about their life, interests, and experiences since high school. Share updates about your own life as well. Discussing mutual interests or reminiscing about shared memories can also help strengthen the connection.
