Question for Those in and Around Indianapolis, in

In summary, the niece is turning 14 and the aunt wants to take her out to celebrate. There are a few tea rooms and cafes near Greenwood, but she doesn't want to go to Starbucks because that's not "grown up." The aunt found a place called The Melting Pot that offers a special spa night with pampering, food, and wine. There is a limited reservation time, and the cost is $40 per person.

I'm looking for something like a tea room or cozy little cafe somewhere near Greenwood. My niece is turning 14, and I want to take her out and do something special and ladylike to celebrate. In so many cultures there's a "coming of age" celebration at about that age. I've purchased a piece of jewelry for her, and it will be just the two of us.

I'll be picking her up from school on Monday, September 22. I found a couple of tea rooms close by, but they are either closed on Mondays or they close early (the latest I found was 3:30). Since she doesn't get out of school until about 3:10, I need a place that will be open until at least 4.

It doesn't have to be a tea room. I'm just looking for something that says "grown woman." Starbucks won't cut it. Anyone have any ideas? TIA!

Nope, that spa night at The Melting Pot won't work. Plus, I'm not sure that martinis are quite the "grown lady" road I want to take. LOL! From what I've heard, you're right. It's a little pricey. The Cheesecake Factory or Paradise Cafe are good ideas. Thanks!

No problem! Yeah, you don't want her to grow up TOO fast!

Let us know how the afternoon goes!

She's already growing up too fast. I can't believe she's almost 14. I'll be sure to let you know how it goes. I'm looking forward to it. It may be interesting. She's The Furry Guy's sister's daughter. There's been some tension in the family the last few years. The issues are waaay too involved and stupid to go into here. The Furry Guy and I mostly stayed out of it, but the niece's mom was in the thick of things. Knowing 14 year olds like I do, there's no telling what might come out of her mouth without mom around. ;)
