Advice Please for Hotels in Chicago

I have a consultant who will be traveling to Chicago with her hubby. They want to stay somewhere less expensive since they won't be sharing the cost of the room with anyone. Are there hotels close to McCormick? Or any cheaper ones by the conference hotels so she could catch the shuttle? I think that might be better so they can do stuff with the rest of us at night if they want.

We went on Hotwire.com, put in the area we wanted and we have a room at The Holiday Inn Express for $74 a night. Priceline.com is another one to try to get a lower price.
