Puzzled by Abdominal Pains: Is it Pregnancy?

In summary, Leah is two weeks late and has been feeling sick for the past four days. She thinks it might be the flu, but is now considering that it might be something else. She has little cramps in her lower abdomen and is physically exhausted. Her husband thinks she looks railroaded and she is beginning to wonder if she is pregnant.

I have been feeling icky for the past week, .... I have been nauseas for the past 4 days, Sunday afternoon I got physically sick.... I thought it was the flu, but I am thinking that wasn't' it... yes I am late...( too chicken to take a test) I really don't' want to do that until after 7/1/07...... but here is my question I have little cramps in my lower abdomen like menstrual type but not really feels like someone is taking tiny needles and sticking them in my tummy more of a nuisance than anything else... my husband said that I physically look like someone railroaded me tired.... I think he meant that I look exhausted. I guess my question is... anyone have a slight guess what it could be??? My whole cluster on Sunday teased me mercilessly about being Pregnant .... I keep saying that I am not... but I am beginning to wonder my self here....

Leah it is a possibility of being pregnant. How late are you?

I am too chicken too because I took test after test a month ago... and it came back negitatve so I thought..... ...I though I started my cycle and then whoosh or I should say gush..... I had a miscarriage but it was barely pregnant. ....

Leah,

You might have to break down and take a test:) I remember when I first was pregnant with my first son over 13 years ago - I had been late one month and thought I was pregnant and ended up not so the next month I waited til I was around 2 1/2 weeks late before I even tested because I was tired of being disappointed. Sure enough I was pregnant! It took me about a year to get pregnant with my son. I remember being just exhausted but then I always was with all my pregnancies because I'm very anemic. You'll have to let us know if you find out anything.

Leah,

I also know how hard it is after you've had a miscarriage - you don't want to get your hopes up but chances of it happening again are usually slim. I guess you just have to think positive:)

I have a six year old daughter..... so I vaguely remember some of the symptoms, but I have been trying to see if these cramps are normal sign of pregnancy or if I am just trying to start my cycle or if my Polycystic ovaries are kicking in yet again....I think I might send my DH to the store...... I have so much stuff to do.. and no energy to do any of it... here is something werid my DD walked up to me on Saturday rub my tummy and goes I want a little sister to play with.... confused I think so..... clingyness that she has been doing for the past few day sis driving me nuts....

When I was pregnant with my first my test was negative, then I started to feel the way you describe feeling and I took another test and sure enough it was positive. Take a test--whether you are or you aren't, you should know. If you are, you'll want to get medical care and all that so find out sooner rather than later. Best wishes! :)

I am sending my Dh to the store......... I want to know...... for my own sanity ...but I am scared at the same time... because I don't' think I can handle a negative results right now..

Just what I thought a negative result.... so I am throwing my hands up in the air.....right now because I don't' know what to think at this point in time.

I had some strong cramping that was keeping from sleeping at night. Sonogram said cyst but apparently perfectly normal. Come and go with ovulation but frankly it makes me feel very tired and the cramps are really awful--much worse than I am used to. I have to take Midol--it works great. If I don't take it on a regular schedule during that time, I feel really lousy as soon as the Midol wears off. Do you think this could be your problem?

Pleeeeeease go get it checked. I let a pain in my abdomen go on for a couple of months after I had my daughter by emergency C-Section (the pain got worse with my cycle, but I ignored it). 4 months after she was born, I landed in the ER getting a CAT scan done of my belly. They found a "mass" the size of a grapefruit. Could be a tumor, could be .... ?
They did "exploratory" surgery. Took out my appendix while they were in there (my appendix was fine, but since they were there anyway, they removed it with my husband's consent) and when they removed it, they saw that my fallopian tube and an ovary were twisted around in a "8" shape because of a HUGE cyst.
Left it for so long that the fallopian tube & ovary had no oxygen. So, I have one fallopian tube and a half an ovary that are "working". My cycle is all screwy (2 weeks on, 6 weeks off, acne breakouts that I have to really control, etc etc) and I'm about 95% infertile.

Which... for us... it was okay, my husband had already had a vasectomy because we were "done" but still. Don't go there. Get a checkup and make sure you're okay. If you're trying, it'll happen at the exact moment it should. :)

Yes. I agree. To the doctor with you. Go Go Go. Advice from a doctor is even better than advice from Pampered Chef Consultants--Hard to believe I know. Ha!

The pain the I have in my lower abdomen is not painful like something wrong.... painful ... it's painful in the since I feel like I am going to start my cycle because I get the same type of cramps every time I get ready to start however... NO CYCLE..... I have polycystic ovaries .... I could be ovulating and that is what is making me so tired.... I should go to the Doctor but I will probably wait a few more days..... and see if I get my cycle or not.. Yes we are trying to get Pregnant!

Leah - PLEASE PLEASE go to your obgyn and before conference!!!!!!!!!!! After I stopped nursing the twins (well I should say pumping) my cycles were okay for the first few months and then in about December they got really out of wack (I bled for 11 days straight and had major cramps, etc). I ended up having an ultrasound done in February and found that I had an ovulation cyst. About 2 cycles after that we are back to normal. If it did not straighten out I would have gone on birth control for a few cycles to straighten things out! Please go see the dr especially if you have PCOS!!!!!! Also, let your obgyn know you are trying to get pregnant. If you are having difficulty getting pg with the PCOS then please go see an infertility specialist (they are awesome~!!!!!).

I went to my OBGYN a month ago.... they will not do anything for infertility for a year... I was sent home and told to keep trying... so that is what we are doing... I was on Birth control until January of this year.

Leah - if you know your body and how it reacts, don't push off seeing a doctor when things are off. Better be checked and be safe then sorry.

Don't want to scare you - I'm sure wonderful things will happen and you WILL have #2 before you know it, but pain in the abdomen like menstral cramps can be numerous things...it can be cysts, but it could also be a tubal pregnancy too. If that happens, you HAVE to get in before it gets worse. If you have consistent pain and it gets worse, not better and is unusually strong for you, please don't second guess a visit to the doctor.

Please know that they are fully used to people coming in repeatedly for pregnancy tests while trying to get pregnant or with other aches and pains. They'd also rather see you then have you "fear" looking stupid and risk your health.

Leah,
I certainly wish you the best in having a baby, like everyone else. However, with pain in the abdomen, especially an "achy" thing, could signal appendicitis!! You really do need to get checked out!!
I went to the doctor, seven years ago, for bloodwork. The very next DAY, I woke up, with lots of "gassy-like" pain. I thought it was the flu. By 5 P.M., I drove myself to the local emergency center, just to be checked out. It was appendicitis, and I had surgery that very night! The er doctor was afraid it might rupture, because I'd already been in so much pain for hours!!
So, just because you saw a doctor a month ago, please don't wait too long!!

And now, we're all going to worry, so be sure to keep us posted on here, too!!

Wishing you good health,
Paula

Leah,

With my first first pregnancy, the first time I took the test, it was negative. However, I just had a feeling I was pregnant and the following week, the next test was positive. There was just not enough hormone present during the first test.

With my other pregancies I experienced quite a bit of cramping. Apparently that is very normal and occurs when the attaching is happening.

Since you are only one week late, maybe there is just not enough pregnancy hormone right now and the cramping is the attachment. I will keep you in my prayers.

Lisa

I hope it happens sooner rather than later... !!! I am ill tempered and down right moody right now and it does not help matters at all. I do not know if I am mood because I am close to my cycle starting or if I am moody because I am tired or better yet pregnant.
