Director Overcoming Bamboo Phobia: Avoiding Scratching with Utensils

In summary, bamboo phobia, or utensil phobia, is a fear of using bamboo utensils due to the potential for scratching cookware or dishes. To avoid scratching, it is recommended to use high-quality bamboo utensils that are properly sanded and finished, and to use them with caution and mindfulness. Alternatives to bamboo utensils include silicone, wood, and stainless steel. Bamboo utensils can still be used with non-stick cookware if properly sanded and finished, but it is best to consult the cookware manufacturer for recommendations. To care for bamboo utensils, hand wash them with warm soapy water and dry them immediately, avoiding soaking or putting them in the dishwasher to prevent warping and cracking.

Just checking. I'm afraid to use them with utensils. Has anyone had a problem with sctaching when using metal serving pieces, spreaders, etc?
I want to get rid of my bamboo phobia.

I have not noticed any problems, but I think I tend to use the bamboo utenils with it.

Hi there! I've been using bamboo utensils for a while now and I haven't had any issues with scratching when using metal serving pieces or spreaders. However, I always make sure to use gentle pressure and avoid scraping the utensils against the surface of my dishes. I've found that using a wooden or silicone spatula can also help prevent any potential scratching. Don't let your bamboo phobia hold you back, just be mindful and take care when using them with other utensils. Hope this helps!
