I need some help with this recipe. Can someone describe how to make the tortilla cups for the sundaes?? Do I use the large or small size tortillas? Can I make them ahead of time? Is whole wheat better than the regular white ones? Thanks for your help.:)

I made it with small tortillas cut to a square, and used the white tortillas. They seemed to work pretty well.

I don't bother with the cups. I make cinnamon chips - just cut the flour tortillas (any size) into wedges after spritzing with water and sprinkling the cinnamon/sugar on them and bake them on a stone at 400 degrees.

I have made the mango salsa lots of times with those chips and everyone always LOVES them!

Thanks for bringing these up - I have a host who wants a second recipe (dessert) and doesn't want chocolate - this will be perfect!

Frequently Asked Questions

What ingredients do I need for the Mango Salsa Sundae recipe?

To make the Mango Salsa Sundae, you will need ripe mangoes, red onion, jalapeño, cilantro, lime juice, salt, and your choice of ice cream or yogurt for serving. Optional toppings can include avocado or tortilla chips for added texture.

How do I prepare the mango for the salsa?

To prepare the mango, start by peeling it and then cutting the flesh away from the pit. Dice the mango into small cubes and set aside. Make sure to use ripe mangoes for the best flavor and texture.

Can I make the Mango Salsa ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare the Mango Salsa ahead of time. It’s best to make it a few hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld. However, if you make it too far in advance, the mango may become mushy, so try to consume it within 24 hours for optimal freshness.

What can I substitute for mango if I can't find any?

If you can't find mango, you can substitute it with diced peaches or pineapple for a similar sweet and tropical flavor. Keep in mind that the taste and texture will differ slightly, but it will still be delicious!

How can I adjust the spiciness of the Mango Salsa?

To adjust the spiciness of the Mango Salsa, you can modify the amount of jalapeño you use. For a milder salsa, remove the seeds and membranes from the jalapeño or use less of it. Alternatively, if you prefer more heat, you can add more jalapeño or include a pinch of cayenne pepper.
