The key to a good relationship with your director is partially to tell her what you need! Our directors are not mind readers and don't have time to follow every detail of our lives. If our lives or opinions change and we expect more or less, we need to tell them what we need for now...and most good directors will respond.

That is a great point Janet.

I have a NED in my upline. She is very supportive and helpful also. She has at least 2000 consultants (I think ) under her. She has always told people she is there for them if they need her. She also has explained that she will let us work our businesses the way we want.
As Janet said we need to tell them what we want help with. My NED will give all the help we want, but we need to go to her. She wants to make sure she is not pushing people in a direction, but they are leading and she is there to help. It is our business to work as we want, and they are their to help but not to tell you what to do.

I just wanted to send out an update. I contacted Robin by email and she was so nice!! She said she talked to the other director in my director's downline and has recommended that she start holding regular monthly cluster meetings. If that doesn't pan out then she will work on finding me hospitality. She was also very open to starting to coach me with some things that I think I need some guidance with.

I am so excited! I feel for my director, but I really think this is going to mean big things for me!!! I can't wait!:D

Oh good grief, please not! Prices could only go up.
This is direct sales, not a corporation with direct reports. Please!

It took me a while to get out of the corporate mindset.

ETA-PC directors have only themselves to account to, their own sales....HO does not provide extra income for the hours spent training new consultants....it took me a while to calm down to this fact, but my director is in it for herself, not me, and she doesn't have the resources of a corporation...and if you recruit a person w/o a personal computer like me, you're on your own... I have to submit their shows.

As far as directors not getting extra income for hrs spent training, they DO get a monthly "production" bonus to conduct meetings, invest in recognition gifts, etc...

If you recruit someone who does not have a computer, I don't think it should be your responsibility to submit their shows for them..for the first year of my business I did not own a computer and had to do all shows by hand..and mail in..it was a pain..then I decided to ask one of my good friends if I could install the pp program on her computer and then go over and submit shows when I needed to...I never would have dreamt of asking my director to take on that burden for me...that is simply too generous...

I'm glad to hear that Sarah! I hope you get what you need now.

directly above me is a SED. I used to have a director who never did a thing to help , never sent even an email with information, or congratulations...
She lost her directorship...but before she did, my SED began calling me to encourage me.

then when the director lost her directorship, and the SED took over...with 100+ in her 1st line...she calls me often, emails all the time, responds to my emails, or calls me about them.
She has turned me around from...zero recruits, to 6 in the past 8 months...and last year, my sales were better than ever!

Obviously she (SED) is a better director...and my first 'director' wasn't , therefore she lost it all!

I've always been hospitality, and have had wonderful hospitality directors.
When you have a strong upline helping and encouraging...AND a supportive hospitality group...you are getting support from both of them...

Keep at it...
Oh...AND...recruit! ! ! Build your own team!!! Once you have your team, and you are doing meetings yourself..you are learning from DOING the meetings. It is a different type of learning...the 'teaching/learning' and it will give you an unexpected boost!
You want to stay on top of things...you have to learn to be able to teach, so you force yourself to learn, and do your best...
I know I feel like I need to push myself harder when I feel like 1) i could loose directorship, and 2) my recruits are looking to me , so I want to be a good role model.

:balloon: I'm always long winded aren't I???
Sorry!
LOL

:D No problem Nicole!

Directorship is definitely my goal. I want to be the kind of Director that mine wasn't. I can't wait to help people reach their goals!

My first coaching call with my ED is today at 10am. I can't wait. Hopefully my two little guys will be good during that time!

so that's why she had to get off the phone with me.

Hee hee. Sorry!

I am so excited! So far I really like Robin. My main focus right now is going to be customer care calls. MUST PICK UP THE PHONE!

Shana - Everytime I see your name it reminds me of a little cartoon on Disney channel, I don't even remember the name of it, but the song goes :sing: My name is Shana, it rhymes with banana..:sing: :D

I know exactly what you are talking about. Lucky for me my name is pronounced Shayna.

I love Robin, and I'm always am glad when I have my coaching calls with her.

Reading this thread & hearing about "bad" directors makes me SOOOO glad I have Leggy as mine!;) Even though I'm here & she's there, I know if I need ANYTHING she's only a phone call or email away & I also have an awesome hospitality director as well. :)

Resurrecting this thread ....

My director announced tonight that she is hanging up her apron. It was bittersweet for us because we love our director and value all she has meant to us.

Kind of saw the handwriting on the wall when a) she suggested that I work with my AD to beef up my show schedule because she was really busy and b) I saw my AD's stats for March and saw that my sales for that month surpassed hers by about $500.

She has a lot going on at home. The good news is that some of the core believers in our cluster will probably be getting together for a book or Bible study with her.

The good news is that my AD is PHENOMENAL and it will be nice to move up to her first line ...

As soon as I promote, my Director will also lose her directorship. I'm very excited to be in my SED's first line, especially on her director team, but I'll be sad to see my director lose her team. My upcoming promotion will be bitersweet.

Linda, does she want to lose it or is she going to be upset?

Why will she lose it? Loss of first line sales?

One Linda promotes, Linda's people will no longer be in her Director's first line. So it could be a loss of sales, a loss of people, or both.

But wouldn't she have a relinquishment period before she lost her directorship?

Yes, three months of relinquishment and then three months of repromotion. So if she fails to meet the director requirements, it will take 6 months of not meeting those requirements for her to lose her directorship.Sounds like Linda knows it will be inevitable, though.

Linda when will you promote????

I'm pretty sure she is working on finding recruit #5.

She has her recruits - I think she said she is only 2-3 shows away!

Awesome, that is better than I last read - I need to catch up...nope, I need a life. I haven't been on as much and I'm getting more done overall so that is good!

Hi all,

I thought that since this thread was brought up again I would give you an update. I did contact my new director and absolutely love her! She was really happy to hear from me and seems very genuine about wanting to help me. We have had some coaching calls which have been great.

I also got together with the other director that I had mentioned and we are going to go to another director's meeting. I'm so excited for that! This director really seems excited about her business. I think she may be fairly new to the area, but I'm not sure. She actually called me personally to invite me to the meeting. VIP treatment compared to what I am used to!

So hopefully things are turning around for me and my business. I can't fall back on the "I don't have any support" crutch anymore, but hopefully I won't have to!!

That's great for you!

The only downside about my new cluster is that it is far, far away from work. She doesn't want to split us up so we all are looking at 45 minute drives or longer. She knows of consultants in the areas where we're coming from so she suggests we carpool. My recruiter doesn't plan to attend any of her meetings, gas prices being what they are. I am going mostly because the only thing I have to do to earn the incentive for our cluster is attend the meetings.

Who is your director. That is so sad, but that is the joy of this business. When it has done what we needed it to do and we need to move on we can.

I'd rather not say publicly ... because not everyone knows. I'll PM.

What part of Ohio are you from?
