Microwaving Mugs: Handle Heat Questions Answered!

In summary, it is important to check the label or manufacturer's instructions before microwaving a mug. Look for a label that indicates it is microwave safe or check for any metal accents or decorations, as these can cause sparks or fires in the microwave. It is not safe to put a mug with any metal accents or decorations in the microwave, and it is best to start with shorter intervals when microwaving liquid. While it is generally safe to microwave a mug with a plastic handle, it is still important to check the label or manufacturer's instructions first to ensure the type of plastic is safe for use in the microwave.

does anyone know if the handles get hot when you microwave these mugs? I had a customer ask me last night at a show and I wasn't sure since I don't have these yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

No more so than any other mug in the microwave. They get slightly warm, but not hot.
