Make Delicious Hazelnut Cake in a Rice Cooker - No Microwave Needed!

SUMMARY

The discussion focuses on making a Hazelnut cake using a rice cooker instead of a microwave with a turntable. Participants confirm that it is possible to bake the cake in a regular microwave by manually rotating it every few minutes to ensure even cooking. Alternatively, baking in a conventional oven is recommended, with adjustments to baking time and temperature. The consensus is that while a turntable enhances even cooking, it is not strictly necessary for successful cake preparation.

I noticed in the Hazlenut cake recipe it said you need to do it in a microwave with a turntable. We don't have one. Can I still do it? This was the whole reason I got it! Would I just need to turn it every few minutes?

Anyone done it?

You can purchase a separate turn-table for mirowaves. Something like that would be your best bet. Stopping the microwave to turn it would allow the expanding gasses in the cake to collapse. Your cake might be cooked, but it wouldn't turn out as even or light. :)

Yes, you can still make the Hazelnut cake even if you don't have a microwave with a turntable. You can try using a regular microwave and just make sure to rotate the cake every few minutes to ensure even cooking. Alternatively, you can also bake the cake in a regular oven. Just adjust the baking time and temperature accordingly. I haven't personally tried it, but I'm sure others have and can share their experiences. Good luck!

Frequently Asked Questions

What ingredients do I need to make Hazelnut Cake in a rice cooker?

To make Hazelnut Cake in a rice cooker, you will need the following ingredients: hazelnut flour, all-purpose flour, sugar, eggs, milk, baking powder, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. You can also add chocolate chips or nuts for extra flavor if desired.

How long does it take to cook the Hazelnut Cake in a rice cooker?

The cooking time for the Hazelnut Cake in a rice cooker typically ranges from 40 to 60 minutes, depending on your specific rice cooker model. It's important to check the cake periodically to ensure it doesn't overcook.

Can I use a different type of flour instead of hazelnut flour?

Yes, you can substitute hazelnut flour with other types of flour, such as almond flour or all-purpose flour. However, this may alter the flavor and texture of the cake, so keep that in mind when making substitutions.

Do I need to grease the rice cooker before adding the cake batter?

Yes, it is recommended to grease the rice cooker pot with butter or cooking spray before adding the cake batter. This will help prevent the cake from sticking and make it easier to remove once it's cooked.

Can I add frosting or toppings to the Hazelnut Cake?

Absolutely! You can enhance the Hazelnut Cake by adding frosting, such as chocolate ganache or cream cheese frosting, or by topping it with fresh fruits, whipped cream, or a dusting of powdered sugar for added flavor and presentation.
