Mine have really been BAD! I had 11 shows at the beginning of the month (7 home and 4 cat). I am giong to end up with only 6 (4 home and 2 cat). Cancellations, unreachable hosts, and 1 death in the family....I know life happens, but my actual show sales are AWFUL, too!

My recruits are struggling to just qualify!

Anyone else having the same hard summer?

I have been having cancellations galore and it's REALLLLY frustrating!!!

Yep, you're not alone! I think we're all in the same boat this summer! I only had one cancellation, but my shows have been under average! Bummer....things have to get better though!

Yep, me tooI had 3 cooking shows and 1 catalog show. 2 of the cooking shows cancelled--only one of them rescheduled! Both of the cancellations were due to low guest attendance. The one cooking show I had wasn't bad...a $725 show, and the catalog was almost $300.

But I did have a woman ask me to do a quick fundraiser for the local HS marching band. She asked me 5 days before the meeting. I went and it was a little disappointing. NO ONE ordered that night (out of 90 people!). Then again, I could only do a display, NO DEMO. But I'm not closing it until next week and the orders are SLOWLY trickling in. We'll see.

I have had somewhat pitiful summer sales. I have had one at $250 one at $475 and one at $750...my show avg is $650 and it seems that people just aren't buying as much at the show.

I had no sales in May. I did have a bridal shower which was $331 this month. It would have been much better, but the guests brought gifts (everyone of them). I even explained it to the host several times! I also had a fundraiser which hasn't closed but is at $800. I have 1 catalog show, but she doesn't want to close until July since she is going on vacation. I was really hoping to get at least $1,500 in sales so I could get some of the fall products for free. I just can't believe they are going to be worth $850. That means we will have to pay over $400 if we want them all!

I did do a local fair and have gotten 4 bookings from it so far. I still have about 40 people to call! I hope to really get a lot of bookings through the fall. Some actually said they didn't want to do a show until fall.

I love PC, but I wish I could stop working so hard to get people to book. I know everyone probably feels the same way.

I also don't think the gas prices are helping. We have been close to $3 a gallon for months now in northern Indiana. I have been spending close to $650/month in gas!! Drives me crazy! Just think how much extra money I would have if it was 1/2 the price! I think everyone is in the same boat!

Best of luck to everyone - let's hope those new fall products WOW our customers!

Hope to see some of you at Conference - Wave 3!

I've been host coaching like crazy and so far only one cancellation this month. I got a little behind on July host coaching and hope that my shows all hold.

But my show sales are down. I had a show with 25 orders that only hit $800 and a show with 11 orders that only hit $500. Both should have been much higher.

Two things: 1. Yes, gas prices are killing everyone and 2. no one cares about the Ice Cream Sandwich Maker! At my last show, I finally had everyone try it as they arrived and guess what? Every order was over $60.

So you know what I will be doing at my two remaining shows. :)

I'm glad you started this thread, Janice, because I just came home from a show and am totally bummed. There were 14 guests, only $397 in sales, no bookings. I came to this site to vent or, heck, I don't even know, but I'm glad to see I'm not the only one having issues this month. Even my normally-$1000-show hostess had a low show - $600 (she's done 4 shows with me, all over $1000). I don't know what I can do differently, as the guests are there - 14 at a show isn't too bad, but they're just not buying...

Here's to a better July!!

Diane

My shows aren't great either and have had 4 cancellations!!!My shows average seems to be dropping and I've been busting my butt to get sales to the $250.00 mark, I even ran a competition for my June hostesses, whomever held and submitted shows from June 1 through June 30, who had the highest GUEST sales, I would give them the Patriotic Tablecloth free, well I've had one $600.00 show and she was my first show of month, and so far, she's still the highest. I'm hoping my hostess for next week can pull something BIG, as I've close with all the little shows I've done to the $3000.00 level. It's taken me a TON more shows, but I'm hoping and praying I get there.

Gotta run,

Lisa

Well, I haven't had any cancellations BUT I CAN'T seem to get any bookings. I am in SS2 and I have had only 3 shows (one didn't even qualify!), 3 individual orders, and 1 catalog show. I only have one show booked for July. I am freaking out! I put out an AD, handed out catalogs and business cards, sent emails, etc...but no one seems to want to book. Why?!?! Is it because it's summer? I am almost looking forward to Fall/Winter just so people will book....all my potential Hosts seem to want to wait 'til then. The holidays maybe?

Aye!

Janice,

I remember talking to you when you first signed up. Have you been selling a full year yet? My slowest times last year were July, August and December, but my recruit who lives in the same town as me, was full during the summer (but she had to drive a couple hours away for her shows). She was also slow in December. I think the constantly rising gas prices has a lot to do with it. Also, being from the midwest, I know when I have shows on nights that there is even a chance of a storm, attendence is way down. Just hang in there. When those new Fall products come out, you will be so busy you won't know which end is up!

Have you sent in that show that didn't qualify yet? If it's not to late (or for future information) you can add those individual orders to a show and then have it delivered to your address (be sure to send it in the host's name and c/o you). That way she gets the host benefits, noone has to pay direct shipping and you get a qualified show.

Summers can be great - but this year does seem to be especially hard to get sales and keep shows. I don't know what it is but I am sure that it is the reason PC came out with the incentives they did for us. They always know when we need that extra push.

Last night I mentioned my shows being really low with my husband also I am trying to get 2 of my shows to 250 I left one last night where there were only 2 people there and they only ordered one thing each so my hostess has a lot of outside orders to get.

I already sent in the individual orders and I had no other shows at the time to add them to. I felt really bad because the Host is my neighbor/friend and she was sooo bummed that only one person came to her show. But when I saw that she still had all the invitations, catalogs, and order forms that I gave her.....I didn't feel so sorry for her. I mean, c'mon...how do you expect people to come if you don't make an effort to hand out invitations and make phone calls??!! Ugh. (Had to get that out.)

Jennifer,
No, I am in my 6th month (thanks for remembering me!). My director said that her summer has been slow, too, and our Senior Direct. said that it is the same way nation wide. I am sure it is the economy. We even had to forgo our family vacation this year (a road trip out west). I am going to hold out for September....and do some praying!

Well, my show average ($615) has been shot in the foot! I've had two $250 shows, one ZERO, and one that's stalled at $87!!! Yes, the host says she's finished--that she doesn't want to continue b/c her guests want their stuff asap...These are cooking shows, not catty!

Yes, I got bookings and recruit leads, but $$ sure would be nice! :)

My show average was $675 for March & April and $780 for May, but this month my show average is $420! :( I'm so bummed! I needed a really good month to help pay for my trip to conference! I wanted to have some extra cash to spend on those boxes everyone talks about, but I'm not certain if I'm going to make anything extra! Oh well, getting to go to conference is enough I suppose!

Oh, and now my July is completely empty because the transfer for my hubby didn't come through and now we're not moving, so I've just come home from my last show this month with out a single booking! URGH! I'm about to pull out my hair!

Frequently Asked Questions

What are some common reasons for low sales during summer shows?

Summer is often a time when people are busy with vacations, outdoor activities, and family gatherings, which can lead to lower attendance at shows. Additionally, many potential customers may be spending their disposable income on travel or summer activities rather than home goods.

How can I boost attendance at my summer shows?

To increase attendance, consider hosting your show at a time that accommodates your guests' summer schedules, such as evenings or weekends. You can also offer incentives, like a summer-themed giveaway or discounts on popular products, to encourage more people to attend.

What types of products should I focus on during summer shows?

Highlight products that are ideal for summer cooking and entertaining, such as outdoor grilling tools, picnic supplies, and quick meal solutions. Emphasizing seasonal recipes and demonstrating how to use these products can also engage your audience and drive sales.

How can I engage my audience during a summer show?

Engagement can be increased by incorporating interactive elements, such as cooking demonstrations, taste tests, or games related to summer themes. Encourage guests to share their own summer cooking tips or favorite recipes, creating a more lively and participatory atmosphere.

What strategies can I implement to follow up with guests after the show?

After the show, send personalized thank-you notes or emails to attendees, including a recap of the products demonstrated and any special offers. Consider creating a summer newsletter with recipes and tips, and invite them to future shows or online events to maintain engagement.
