Consultants within the Pampered Chef community may find this discussion relevant as it addresses common challenges and experiences faced in the business.

I think to me the most disappointing thing about TPC is the fundraising program. not only do organizations get a terrible return rate but our commision is cut.
what bothers me most about the commision thing is, a FR is more costly to us as a cons. than a cooking show. we hand out several catties & receipts (wether they be photo copied or from supply) very rarley do we get any of catalogs back and almost never get asked for more receipts, because the orders are just piling in.
from all the FR's i have done in the past year i feel that i & the organizers have put a lot of time and effort into them with very little to show for it.

I am going to have to go with the fundraiser program. It is a little hard to compete when most other companies give at least 30-50%. JMHO
I'm not sure if I mentioned this before but I donate my commission to the cause, so they do wind up with 30%. I figure it would cost about the same as a booth space to get the booking and recruiting leads.

Even if you donate your comm., they still only receive about 30% I do know that companies like Tupperware and Home Interior give them 50% off the top. And those consultants get their regular comm. and donate a portion of it to the cause so they are making a whole lot more than if they were to have a PC fundraiser.

We need to let HO know if we want something improved.

I agree that our donation really need to be higher to compete with other companies. But, the thing you have to stress to people is with our fundraiser they are getting the full value of our products; we don't mark ours up for fundraisers. I just bought a couple candles from a good friend for a Home Interiors fundraiser & they mark those up $1-2 each! So that's something to definately point out when you're talking up our fundraising program!

Ok, I'll say it... lugging the products in and out of the shows. I even have a show to go tote, but you want to have a piece or two of stoneware, cookware, the simple additions plate or two, tools, boards, etc etc etc. Plus the catalogs, my planner, hostess packets, etc etc etc.

Besides that, I am good!!

So far I haven't found anything I dislike about the company itself. One thing I get discouraged about sometimes is the fact that to me it's a job and to my hosts it's just a party.

Fundraiser's

I wish they did more for fundraisers, even if i made less, I'd rather the group make at least 25% of what's sold.

Other than that, I can't get organized no matter how bad I try and I have to push myself to make phone calls a lot of them times b/c i don't want to bug people.

I'M thrilled that PC sends money on their own for fundraiser's, if you'd like the org. to get more, why not do what I plan on doing and giving up my commission so the cause gets the support.

U could also turn in as a reg. show (per my Director) and give them the percentage of sales. then you or whoever could get the hostess specials, etc.

Just ideas.

I don't really mind packing up my products to go, and even the dishes afterwards is pretty much a piece of cake, since most everything goes right in the dishwasher. I kind of get a kick out of seeing it all while I'm packing (there's Molly Mandoline and Betty Batter Bowl. I know Susie Stainless Bowls is sad she's staying home, but I'll be sure to tell everyone how much she missed the party...) But what I don't like packing is my paperwork. I keep everything in folders and having to go through them makes me crazy. Probably because I only ever do it about 20 minutes before I have to go and then I'm scrambling for stuff, though. I guess it all goes back to the lack of organization. Why can I organize for others but not me?!!
