When people comment on that, I tell them I've been using the same round stone for almost 9 years, and it's never made me sick.

In my opinion, it does not "ruin the stone" or "make it taste soapy". It interfers with the seasoning.
chefann said:I've always been taught that the stones are slightly porous - that's where the moisture goes from frozen convenience foods so that they don't need to be turned. But they're microscopic pores.
chefann said:Virtually non-porous is somewhat porous.
Like mostly sunny is partly cloudy.
chefann said:Stoneware is clearly an area where customer service includes customer education. And it needs to be repeated several times. My SIL has a stone that she got at a show she hosted over 7 years ago (it's where I met my recruiter). Every time she uses it (which is only a couple times a year), she calls me to ask how she's supposed to clean it "Because you're not supposed to use water on it." Every time, I tell her that water is OK, but soap isn't.
1. Why does my recruit hate stoneware?
There could be several reasons for this. Some people may not like the weight or feel of stoneware, or they may have had a negative experience using it in the past.
2. Is it possible to change my recruit's mind about stoneware?
Yes, it is possible. With the right approach and information, your recruit may come to appreciate the benefits of stoneware and start using it in their cooking.
3. Do you know any other consultants who have dealt with this issue?
Yes, many consultants have encountered recruits who initially had a dislike for stoneware. With patience and guidance, they were able to help their recruits overcome their hesitation and embrace stoneware.
4. Have you personally experienced a change of heart towards stoneware?
Yes, I was once like your recruit and didn't understand the hype around stoneware. But after trying it out and learning more about its benefits, I am now a big fan and use it regularly in my cooking.
5. How can I convince my recruit to give stoneware a chance?
You can share your own positive experiences with stoneware and explain the benefits, such as even cooking, easy clean-up, and enhanced flavors. You can also offer to do a cooking demonstration with stoneware to show its effectiveness. Lastly, be patient and understanding, and give your recruit time to warm up to the idea.
