I am having a hard time getting bookings at shows. i had a bunch this month but so far no one wants to host a show i still have 3 more shows yet. I get most bookings by calling my slips from home shows i gave away free cooking. i need more shows in may sofar i have marked 2 cookings one catalog but the 2 cookings is penceled in. what can i do?

Here are my thoughts:Is your show fun and not too long? During your show, are you telling the guests how they and their friends/family would benefit if they hosted a show? Are you having your host tell everyone why they decided to host a show and how easy it is?Are you asking everyone? Are you making sure that any "no" isn't really a not now? I often encounter people who say no, only to find out that they're really interested in hosting in another month or two. People sometimes think a "yes" means that you'll show up at their house next week.Examine your language. Make sure you're not presenting it in a way that makes it sound like (a) you're desperate or (b) they're doing you a favor by booking. Hosting is something they can do for themselves and their friends/family.

Use the booking slide I have noticed that with using that my shows don't seem going so long cause I have everything there about the hosting and run through it quickly.

What are you doing for your demos?

I had a show on Sunday and a gal was there who had never been to a party. I asked her if she owned any PC prods and she said right away, "oh no, that stuff is too expensive!"...I proceeded to do the chicken broccoli ring and I cooked the chicken in the baker. I spoke of ALL the different things you can do with it. Then I used the chopper on the broccoli and told of all the things you can do with this. Do you know she BOUGHT THE BAKER outright, and the chopper AND booked a show!

So..I think that what we demo has an impact on guests and their desire to want to book. If they don't feel they NEED to have these products, they are not going to want to take their time with a party.

If you are not showcasing that baker at EVERY show in some capacity, you are really missing out. That baker has TRANSFORMED my business. Literally.

i cant seem to get any more for may for the help whip cancer. no one seems interested in the hosat special only when i give something free than they seem to book a show to get it. What can i do to get more bookings with out giving something free?

I always remind them that the Hostess that they book off of also get the hostess gift and so they are guaranteed at least 1 person at their party and we all laugh it kinda de stresses the situation and letting them know I have bookings available in (the next 2 - 3 months) depending on what I already have booked.

I just had a show Saturday night. There were 8 guests and 6 are interested in show! What really helped (the host is a past host and friend and we talked after about it) was that I made the recipe, let them eat it while I explained what was in their packets before they really had a chance to look. I got more attention that way. Plus, I explained my customer care card and explained that I understand people have reservations about hosting (too small a kitchen, work full time already, kids, etc.) and I gave them solutions to those problems (no bake recipe, host at my house, kids are OK at my shows, etc) so that opened their eyes. I also mentioned I do couple's shows kind of in a competition way and so one girl wants to do that. So explaining while they eat and all you hear is "YUM" "MMMMMM" etc. helps!!!!! :-) Oh and this show is sitting at $865 with 2 more orders to come. When I walked out the door I was only a bit over $500! :-) So it looks like over $900 in sales and 6 bookings for having fun, laughing, using great kitchen tools, and being open and honest to people is what does it for me!!! Oh and my show times have decreased (in and out in 3hrs!!!)

Becky, what recipe did you make? Did they just watch you or did they help you make it? How did you keep them involved?

We made two but really it was more of finishing two. I usually only do one start to finish but this is a good host so I didn't mind. I started the grilled chicken penne al fresco when I got there (I arrive 30mins before the show) then had the brownie torte made for the cherry cordial torte. So all we had to do was assemble to torte while the penne was in the microwave. The host finished the penne while the guests helped me assemble the torte. The kitchen is a good set up for shows so that helps. I had all the ingredients out already along with the tools. Sometimes I had to have people get something off the table but it wasn't bad. It was a mixed crowd of newbies and oldies. :)

Ask everyone!!!

just had a show today and it only comes to 90 some dollars in orders. one maby for a show. i do not know how to get more sales and i think it is ther goup of people that is there. one las tweek ended up being 500 show and no bookings but toiday 90 (not yet 150) but one maby. still more orders i thin k to come. i am going to ask my director if i can watch one of hers sometime because i think i am doing something wrong. What do you all thinnk? I called a bunch of people for help whip cancer no one wants to book a show. i do ask every one and they all say no no no not now.

Maybee you need to view another consultants show. If there are none in your line arround you get some DVD's on supply order. The one that came out last year to feature the hands on for guests was great. Even if you do not want to do that format it is great to see how those consultants interact.

As a last resort. have someone tape you in actipn. then watch yourself. Maybee you need to change things up a bit.

well i do most show inter active and today this one was more older women and some does not cook. i watch the dvd alot or should i say all the time be for a show. one on supply order. most of the time they do not want to be involved in the making. i dont now what to change up a bit because most are go with the whind when i get there if most say no for interactive and if more oldaer ladys than i chance what i am doing for the show. I cand see that my shows are not so much fun by the guest faces and how they act we sometimes laugh but most not. i feel like they are watching me to really goof up on every thing and also that i should have all the awnsers to every thing. that isa the vib i get ffrom most people at show.

I am sorry to hear you are having some troubles! I highly suggest to invest in some materials from Belinda Ellsworth. She will TOTALLY rock your PC world and completely open your eyes to not only HOW but WHY guests/people book shows.

For example, Belinda says the #1 reason why people book show is because they LIKE YOU. #2 is for free products. #3 is to help out their friend (booking benefit).

It is extremely crucial to build a strong relationship with your host. Next, if the guests are having a great time (there's fun, laughter, involvement) they are more likely to have a show.

In the beginning, I had no issues booking shows. Then I hit a slump. For a while I really struggled booking shows while at shows. I took a close look and realized it was ME who was creating the situation. I had changed. Instead of relaxing and having a good time at the show, I turned into focusing on wondering if I was doing everything "right", wouldn't come out of my shell and connect with people (they may think I am weird or fake)...etc. I now make sure I connect with EVERY guest, smile a lot and just plain have fun. My show last weekend, there were 8 at the show and I got 3 solid bookings and a few recruit leads.

Now, this is another thing I have changed. When I get the person who says, "well, maybe I'll have a show in a little while" I gently suggest to them that I totally understand that will be a better time for them, however, in order for Suzie Host to get credit for the show booking, I need to submit Suzie Hosts show with booking information included to ensure future credit. We want to make sure Suzie Host will be able to take advantage of the host special during their show. So, let's go ahead and pencil in a date, just so it can go into the system. Then, I'll follow up with you 4-6 weeks before your show to make sure the date you pick tonight is still good for you then.

This seriously gets 100% of every single person off of the fence and onto my calendar. They don't know you don't "have" to have the booking information when you submit the show in order for Suzie Host to get credit. Then, there's no calling and leaving messages in the future to try to book them. They are on your schedule and they will most likely stick to the show.

Don't focus on sales when you are going into a show. Sales will take care of themselves. Focus 100% on bookings and recruit leads. When you focus your show on creating an experience the guests truely love, they'll certainly buy more and book their own show. It's seriously psychology based and has really helped me boost my confidence and take more control of my biz and cooking shows.

Good luck!! Seriously, look into Belinda Ellsworth stuff. It will transform your business!

I also had issues w/ guests not wanting to get involved. Not anymore. How? In the opening I TELL them that the show will be very interactive and I HIGHLY encourage them to get products into their hands and try them when WE put the recipe together. I then proceed to say to them, "this is YOUR CHANCE to learn how our products work, see the quality and how and if they will be a good fit for YOUR kitchen and cooking styles. My business is tailored to helping YOU find products that will work for YOU to make YOUR food prep and cooking faster and easier. YOU can't walk into a Walmart or Target, pull kitchen tools off the shelves and whip out recipe ingredients to test them out on. Well, YOU can try but you'll be looked at weirdly by other customers and most likely be escorted out the door by the store's security person (chuckle, chuckle). Nor can YOU find the quality in retail department's kitchen tools that Pampered Chef prides its name on. This is a try before you buy! Sound good? Alright, tonight we are going to make......(discuss recipe)..... So, let's get started. Let's all go into the kitchen and wash up our hands and we'll get cooking!"

During demonstration, I briefly show the product and how to use it, then I'll say, "ok, I need 2 or 3 people to peel the remaining 3 garlic cloves using the garlic peeler." I'll then look at everyone, and if no one moves, I will pick people from the crowd. "Ok, Mary...I am going to have you peel this garlic clove. Come on over and see how cool this peeler is!"

99% of the time a few other people will then jump in and announce they want to try the peeler out too b/c Mary is now involved. I don't normally have to "tell" guests to help out more than 2 times before they know and understand the format I have put in place. It becomes automatic and guests are telling ME they are going to try the product out when we are onto the next thing.

So then what happens? SALES increase!!!! My show average went from $250 (if I was lucky) to over $500 OVERNIGHT, just from doing interactive AND effective host coaching (this ties into connecting w/ the host and building a strong relationship when I meet him/her and while host coaching).

:blushing: thanks! I literally just made all those changes this month and has completely changed my biz for the better!!! I am more confident and taking control of my biz.

I am booking way more shows and gathering way more recruit leads. I can't wait to see where this takes me in the future as I fine tune everything :)

Hopefully what I have learned from Belinda Ellsworth (and a little bit of Karen Phelps sprinkled in) and shared with you all will also help you have the biz you dream about :balloon:

Thanks for sharing this. I was doing half of this, getting them to say yes so I could put it in the computer, but the penciling in the date is where I was failing. I love the wording you use. I'll need to get back to doing this. I am always so embarrassed that my director sees my bookings # when I submit a show, yet I don't have anything on my calendar. Just a bunch of "call me after"... I'm done with school, May, the summer, etc.

Liquid Sky and Koolutus ~ Excellent, Excellent expalanation....so glad you went into details! = )

Great Job and Thanks for Sharing!

i now have 3 cooking shows this month and one to reconfrim and one catalog ideas please

Congratulations!!!Also, do you use the show cards that came with your kit? It might give you more confidence and allow you to relax and enjoy yourself which will transform your show. And even as new as I am, I have found they guests really begin to open up when I ask their opinion about what their favorite PC items are...if I have people new to PC then the experienced ones feel like they are helping the new ones out by explaining their favorite PC products. And what happens is the guests then sell to each other and it gives me time to sit back and relax during that part.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are some effective ways to encourage bookings during a Pampered Chef show?

To encourage bookings during a show, engage your guests by showcasing the benefits of hosting a party, such as exclusive discounts, free products, and fun experiences. Use interactive demonstrations to highlight popular items and create excitement. Additionally, share personal stories about successful shows and the rewards of hosting, which can inspire guests to book their own parties.

How can I create urgency for bookings at my show?

Creating urgency can be achieved by offering limited-time incentives, such as a special gift or discount for guests who book a party during the show. You can also emphasize the limited availability of dates or highlight any upcoming promotions that guests wouldn't want to miss. This sense of urgency can motivate guests to make a decision on the spot.

What should I say when asking guests to book a party?

When asking guests to book a party, be enthusiastic and direct. You might say something like, "I would love to help you earn free products by hosting a party! It’s a fun way to gather friends, and you can earn amazing rewards. Who would like to host a party with me?" This approach is friendly and inviting, making it easy for guests to say yes.

How can I follow up with guests after the show to secure bookings?

Following up is crucial for securing bookings. Send a thank-you message to all attendees, expressing your appreciation for their participation. In your follow-up, remind them of the benefits of hosting and include a personal touch, such as referencing a conversation you had during the show. Offer to answer any questions they may have about hosting and suggest potential dates for their party.

What materials or tools can I use to facilitate bookings at my show?

Utilize booking tools like a calendar or a booking sheet where guests can sign up for dates on the spot. Provide brochures or flyers that outline the benefits of hosting a party and include testimonials from past hosts. Additionally, having a small gift or incentive for those who book at the show can be a great motivator. Make sure to have business cards handy for easy follow-up.
