I have a really good friend that lives in Australia and for b-says and christmas I always send her PC stuff. She loves PC products and wants me to do a show over there when we come and visit. My question is, can I do a show in Australia and have it shipped there? I know there is the currency thing to, but I would just have everyone pay w/a cc# and in american $$.

She says she can garantee a great turn out, since they don't have anything like that over there. Also, some of my expenses would be tax deductible too. That just might get me over there sooner if I could pull off a show.

Any help would be appreciated.

The short answer is No. PC doesn't ship overseas, except to Military Installations.

The only way I could see you doing this would be to have it shipped to you, and then you shipping the entire order to Australia. Which might be a bit cost prohibitive.

Thanks, that is what I thought. I could always ship it slow boat, but then it would take forever to get there and it would still cost a pretty penny to do it.

What if they ordered from your website??

Still no shipping overseas? I think no, but didnt hurt to bring it up!.

So, really crazy thought here-but what if you did an online show had everything shipped to you, and you could hand carry some of the items. Bring something from everybody's order so they all had something to start and then ship the rest before you left. Does that make sense? It might still get expensive, but it may be worth a shot!

I never thought of that. Good idea. Her mom is coming over the end of the month. I could send back some catalogs w/her to pass around and get orders and then ship some stuff and carry others. My mom and my toddler girl would be going to so I could use my girls suitcase to fill with PC products.

Could I still deduct the airline ticket on my taxes doing it that way? The airline ticket alone will be about $1400 but we won't have hotel or rental car expenses.

Not to burst anyone's bubble, but in all technicality, we're not allowed to advertise our business outside of the country.

From Policies and procedures:

All Pampered Chef® business, advertising, publicity and sales activities are limited to the US. Please do not promote your business outside the US.

My grandmother, who lives outside of the country, actually cannot even access my website, I believe because her browser and computer settings identify her as being outside of the US.

That really stinks.

Also, if she does carry the products back with her, if they are in their original packing (which is what I would assume that the guests would want), she is subject to paying duty on them upon her return.

How could you deduct a plane ticket to go somewhere where you can't legally present a show?

If you can't do a show there, you can't write off the ticket as a business expense... what's your plan for justifying that? Just curious...

That's my point. I am asking to see if it is possible, I have no idea.

Don't we have consultants in Germany, Italy, etc?? How do they do it? I say call home office and let us know.

They are military.

Pampered Chef is also in Germany (Canada and England too) but they are their own companies with their own CEOs and consultants. Anyone in the US can sell to someone overseas if they are military APO.

So, could she find someone military APO to host the party and enter them as a co-host?

Yep, we have consultants in Germany...but we're US military so even though we're here, it's like we're still in the US...even our mailing address is a stateside addy....BUT we can not sell to the German people. (Unless they're married to a US military person)HTH
