We did fill it with fruit salad...fresh pineapple, strawberries, apples, bananas, and grapes with an apricot glaze: 1 c. sugar 1 Tbl. cornstarch, and 2 cans (5 1/2 oz. each) apricot nectar and 1 tsp vanilla...cook until thickened. This is the best fruit salad and it is nice for those who don't actually like melons. We served the watermelon separately.
Yummy!

WoW! looks great :thumbup:zmom58 said:Here is a picture of my daughter's HS graduation watermelon. I got it from a Pillsbury mini cookbook-the kind at the check out stand. I used stick-on numbers-like the ones you use for a mail box, to trace the numbers. Maybe you can check Pills. website. I am sure yours will be beautiful no matter what because it's made with love.
Have a great day!

A watermelon basket is a creative way to carve a watermelon into a bowl shape, which can then be filled with fruit salad or other treats. It's a fun and visually appealing centerpiece for parties and gatherings.
To make a watermelon basket, start by selecting a ripe watermelon. Cut off the top third of the watermelon and scoop out the flesh, leaving a sturdy shell. You can then carve decorative designs on the outer shell and fill the basket with your choice of fruits or snacks.
You will need a sharp knife, a melon baller or spoon for scooping out the flesh, and possibly some decorative tools for carving designs. A cutting board is also helpful for stability while you work.
Absolutely! The flesh you scoop out can be used to create a delicious fruit salad, smoothies, or other dishes. It's a great way to minimize waste and enjoy the sweet taste of watermelon.
Making a watermelon basket can be as simple or as intricate as you want it to be. Basic carving is easy and can be done in just a few minutes, while more elaborate designs may require practice. Overall, it's a fun project that anyone can try!
