Full-Time, Part-Time, & Hobbyist

Click For Summary
In discussions regarding the classifications of business involvement within Pampered Chef, there are distinct definitions emerging for full-time, part-time, and hobbyist consultants. A full-time consultant typically engages in 2-3 shows weekly, consistently earns commissions, and actively recruits, while part-time consultants conduct 1-2 shows each week. Hobbyists generally limit their participation to 1-2 shows per month, indicating a more casual approach to the business. The conversation highlights a discrepancy with some individuals asserting full-time status despite low activity levels, such as conducting only one show monthly and earning minimal income. This raises questions about the criteria for defining full-time involvement, suggesting that consistent engagement, income, and active participation in the business are critical factors for classification.

I'm curious as to what you all think of this and am posting it in a few places to gather a number of responses...

What do you consider, in Pampered Chef, to be full-time, part-time and hobbyist business.

I'm looking for hours, # of shows or income answers.

Thanks for your help.

PS: Reason I am asking is that I have a consultant who I am forever struggling with (and so many of you here have helped me with issues with her in the past! Thank you!) who tells everyone she does this full-time... she doesn't work another job in addition to PC, collects unemployment, and does less than $200 each month and maybe 1 show a month. So I'm curious as to what your answers are to this. Thanks again for all of your help! :)

I think (hope) she means that the only job she's got is PC. I wouldn't consider her full-time. I was thinking about this for myself yesterday. I had considered myself a full-time consultant, but I don't think I qualify considering my commission.

When I think of a full-time consultant I think of Duska Mills or Shan Eisler, but I think there are people out there putting in that time, but don't have the status. Is Career Consultant an option? I think those 2 would be more Career Consultant status.

I average 6-8 parties a month. I make ccc 3-4 days a week (I know not everyday). I've started earning trips and all other incentives. So I kinda think that's full-time, but I know it is quite a bit less than what most of you do.

Hobbyist= 1 or 2 shows a month
Part-time= 1 or 2 shows a week
Full-time= 2-3 shows a week consistently

My thoughts:

Hobbyist= 1 show every month (or every other month)
Part-time= 1 show a week
Full-time= 2 shows a week consistently with ccc done on a regular basis and an active recruiter

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a full-time, part-time, and hobbyist Pampered Chef consultant?

A full-time consultant typically dedicates a significant amount of time to their Pampered Chef business, often treating it as their primary source of income. A part-time consultant works on their business alongside other commitments, such as a job or family responsibilities, while still aiming to generate income. A hobbyist, on the other hand, may engage in the business primarily for personal enjoyment, social interaction, or to earn a little extra money without the pressure of meeting sales goals.

Can I transition from part-time to full-time as a Pampered Chef consultant?

Yes, many consultants start part-time and transition to full-time as they build their customer base and gain confidence in their selling abilities. With dedication and effective marketing strategies, it is possible to increase sales and make Pampered Chef a full-time career.

What are the income potential differences between full-time, part-time, and hobbyist consultants?

Full-time consultants generally have the potential to earn a higher income due to their increased commitment and time investment. Part-time consultants can also earn a substantial income, but it may be less predictable and dependent on the hours they choose to work. Hobbyists usually earn the least, as their focus is more on enjoyment and less on maximizing sales.

Do full-time consultants have different responsibilities compared to part-time or hobbyist consultants?

Yes, full-time consultants often take on more responsibilities, such as managing a larger customer base, hosting more cooking shows, and possibly mentoring other consultants. Part-time consultants may have a more flexible approach, while hobbyists typically focus on personal enjoyment and may not prioritize business growth.

How can I determine which level of commitment is right for me as a Pampered Chef consultant?

To determine the right level of commitment, consider your personal goals, available time, and financial needs. If you are looking for a significant income and can dedicate ample time, full-time may be suitable. If you want to balance other commitments, part-time could be ideal. If you’re primarily interested in socializing and enjoying the products, being a hobbyist may be the best fit.
